What we love: Integrating the Pomodoro Technique – 25-minute intervals of work separated by 5-minute rests – the app gives you a therapeutic focus companion. Choose a kitten and match it with your favourite chair, rug and background to create a cosy space, then tap Start to launch your focus session. Successfully completing sessions lets you unlock furniture and decorations, but if you break focus, your feline companion may give you something far less useful instead as a sign of its displeasure.

Meet the creator: This app was co-created by a Canadian couple living in Vancouver. Ryan Yao, a former product designer, was responsible for development, while the app’s visual style comes from Sarah, an illustrator and graphic designer. Both are cat lovers who drew inspiration from their own and their friends’ animal companions.
