A New Chapter Begins

For more than three centuries, Wicklow's Historic Gaol has stood at the heart of Ireland's history, witnessing some of the nation's most significant events.

Behind these stone walls, prisoners endured unimaginable hardship, families were separated, and lives were forever changed during the 1798 Rebellion, the Great Famine and the struggle for Irish independence.

Now, a new chapter begins.

Reopening soon, visitors will once again be able to step inside one of Ireland's most atmospheric heritage attractions, where history is brought to life through immersive storytelling, character-led tours and unforgettable visitor experiences.
