- 08/08/2026 - I like the way I start my write-up on today's new member to the compendium: "Jessie Monroe is an agent with the CIA. When she is being , of course. She often is not." That really explains this interesting series by Jan McCleery.
- 08/06/2026 - Two words for today's entrant in this spy series compendium: . Real name, Rick Harrison. Author Jan Stacy. Don't know much. Hope someone can tell me lots. I will say, any series that has a picture of Lou Albano on deserves a read by me. Lord, that name brings back great day watching wrestling.
- 08/04/2026 - I've always had a fondness for private detective stories. I enjoy when that genre reaches over into the spy-fi genre. It doesn't often but when it does, I'm happy. I loved reading them but I thought listening to them would have been even more enjoyable. - they just read like they'd sound great. Also, the private eye, , is a former CIA agent. Well done to author Dale M. Nelson.
- 08/02/2026 - I like reading stories about older agents. In this case, former agents. Well, a former linguist for the CIA. I can identify better with them because I'm... older. does a whole lot of stuff I wouldn't, which is why I read. And why I really enjoyed the daylights out of her adventures. Author Kate McVaugh has a terrific series here.
- 07/30/2026 - When I say that an author has, in my opinion, come close to the quality of master storyteller Graham Greene, I am giving great praise. I do not do this lightly. It is deserved, though. Author Lachlan Page - itself a great name for a spy - has given us two terrific books and one great novella in the series. Well done to him!
- 07/28/2026 - Today's entrant is spy-adjacent at best but it is enjoyable. is a former agent with Cobalt, a private corporation. As I said in My Comments, "The reading style for these adventures is smooth and very pleasant, moving the readers along very nicely and before you know it, a whole lot of pages have passed, not to mention considerable activity." There are three books in this series by R.D. West.
- 07/26/2026 - I describe today's entrant into the compendium as a fascinating character about whom I said I was certain there was a lot more to learn. is, or has been, many things in his life and that is what makes him interesting. Two fun books exist about him written by Malcolm Havard.
- 07/24/2026 - "These action-adventure stories are exciting and the plots varied and anyone who picks up these stories will be entertained." That's a part of My Comments about the exciting series by Craig A Hart and S.J. Varengo.
- 07/22/2026 - An unbelievable recruitment and suddenly vicious characters were two of the issues I had with today's entrant into the compendium. The writing was good but I found I did not like either and I don't think that was the intent of author Ian Griffin.
- 07/20/2026 - I was intrigued by this series, written recently but taking place fifty years ago. That is still within my aging memory but it was a time before the internet, cellphones, and who knows what else we take for granted. Heck, HBO was barely a thing! Author Ephraim Clark did a pretty darn good job with this series about CIA agent .

SPY FICTION!
Say the word SPY to most people and they will respond with James Bond,
with good reason as he is the best known of all fictional spies. With 20+ blockbuster movies over the last 60+ years,
along with the standard movie hype, virtually the entire world knows about 007 and his License To Kill.
Of course, James Bond is by no means the only spy in the world of fiction, just the best known. Who are the rest?
Who has his or her own license to kill, thrill, or chill. How do these agents stack up against each other? Who would
you want beside you in a car chase, in a knife fight, in a dark alley, or beneath the covers?
This site is dedicated to the many, many men and women who, at least in fiction, have defended our freedoms against all forms of enemies, foreign and domestic. Well, granted a few of them were just in it for the money and many were only after the excitement, and sex played a huge role in the motivation of more than a few. But still, their actions helped not only preserve our way of life (on paper) but also brought us, the readers, many hours of escapism and vicarious pleasure.
So, who are these people that I have slaved so diligently to present to you? They are the men and women of spy-fi about whom there is a series. Single-book characters need not apply. There has to be at least two adventures. Two's the minimum but the more the merrier.
Moreover, I have confined membership to the English language (with a couple of notable exceptions). If it wasn't put into English so I can read it, I haven't worried about it.
Each spy has his or her own page. Click on the "Characters" button to go to a listing page. Click on the letter the
character's last name starts with (or a more common moniker like "Death Merchant" if appropriate). That will take one
step further into the labrynth. Finally, select the character's name from the list and, voila!
