I made this album for myself, inspired by musique concrete (namely Zappa's Lumpy Gravy), I began by finding random improvised voice memos on my iphone, placing them all in a single session file, and then overdubbing random improvisations over the music using guitars, a Moog synth kit, a Juno 106 and a Roland SPD-11. It was fun to make such an intentionally disorienting or disjointed pastiche of music, and fun to explore ideas I came up with on the spot but mostly forgot I ever wrote.

I've been really tired of being just a "musician" and not participate in any other artform for months now, even if I don't have an album to show for it. Consider this me signing off, as well as a potential jumping-off point when I sign back in.

The record consists of fhree improvised Berlin School/Kosmische Musik live jams.

while running errands last week, I started writing the first tune of this set in my head. When I got home, I scribbled down "Canadian Tire" as a placeholder title, simply to trigger my memory of when/where the tune was conceived. A few days ago, it occurred to me that "Canadian TireD" is a pretty spot on way to describe how a lot of us are feeling these days, with the barrage of ludicrous news coming at us every day from the administration down south. While it's easy feel quite hopeless, I've been reflecting on the possibility that it's always darkest before dawn. Perhaps that's naive, but it's also the only thing keeping me going. So with that in mind, I wrote "Glimmer of Hope" as an attempt to manifest brighter days ahead. The tune shifts from minor to major tonality, references several melodies I find particularly uplifting, and even quotes the B section of Canadian Tired in jig form. I started arranging this last night (Feb 28) around 10pm, and recorded all night. I played all the parts myself, and it's very revealing to write an arrangement for yourself, knowing you don't actually play one of the instruments haha, but please bear with my 5 note cello part... And my brother Jacob mixed the track!

The album consists of a number of improvisation approaches. As the title implies, this is an attempt at wrangling the possibillities which abound in the Universe. The pieces mainly used multitracking with Cubase, but also some of the rhythms generated were created with Python and translated to MIDI where they were later executed for a given virtual instrument. There are also some live takes that were integrated within multitracks.

I made a nine song album, I did it on purpose.

Controlled Chaos was created using randomized notes on randomized synths, and then edited manually. I am dedicating this album to Jason and his son KJ.

Me and my friend Robert did it at his basement and record it all on GarageBand and it's special to us because we love punk music and we thought that we show what we are capable of doing

I made five instrumental tracks. They're not done, but the month is over. They're not really mixed or mastered, so even Gimbal has a shocking moment at the end. I was trying to capture a certain set of emotions from adolescence. Maybe the incoherent, unfinished nature of the songs is a reflection of that. Or just of my being busy in February.

I threw some stuff together in logic pro and kinda just made whatever.

I had about 2h on Feb 28 to complete this. I really wanted to get my feet wet with RPM so I played my synths over a sequenced bass line on my moog and a sequenced drum track and recorded single takes. Some reversed vocal samples run through effects for fun.

I wanted to make a song inspired by some stuff I've been reading about Existential Psychoterapy. I made it in two days with the Linnstrument and Bitwig, my two main tools in music production. Lyrics are in portuguese.

i started writting a totally different record until i found out my singer couldn't do it, so i wrote an entirely different record, mostly using Logic sim-instruments and guitars and then found a singer who crushed it. mixing took very short time this year and i'm very happy with the final results.

For this RPM I completed the demo version of Razorsongs, an album which had the aim of combining my electronic and industrial affinities with a more adventurous, progressive and experimental style of songwriting. It spans many genres and features plenty of distorted beats and recorder shredding.

After last year's RPM effort went in a more pop orientated direction after some of my experiments failed, this EP is much more off the wall musically. Blissfully imperfect in places, and in others downright amateurish, it certainly tries to push the boundaries of musical keys, musical rules and concepts of rhythm. Perhaps it is an unacceptable mess but it is definitely an attempt at abstract musical impressionism.

We wanted to work on collaboration and breaking out of our normal approach to recording music.

A collection of songs about life stories. Two old friends reconnected to collaborate. Recorded on Tascam Model 24. Mixed using Audacity on PC.

Voyages started as a collection of songs written during New Zealand's 2 major COVID-19 lockdowns but often went unfinished or unrecorded due to my work helping with the mental health and tertiary education response which didn't leave me time to record the songs, so as Omicron started causing havoc and sent me home again I decided to commit these songs to record using my home studio and get them out there with encouragement of the RPM challenge. This album was made for me to document where I am in that moment of time (along with my 3rd album Midnight Memories, due in May) but I hope other people will find their own connections with these songs and that it means something to them too. I'm looking forward to taking these songs on the road ow that international travel is possible and pending the status of my Kickstarter to raise enough funds to reschedule my US tour from 2020 I'll be sharing the stories behind these songs with you in June and July in the US and then everywhere else (including New Zealand) from there in my stories and songs shows about Growing Up with Autism and ADHD. This is some kind of folk record I think. The vocals were a result of feeling too under the weather to really put much energy into them. So they came out sounding a little ghostly. Every song on this record might have the same chord progression. I dunno. Sorry about that. I'm gonna go lay down out of it now.

I made this for myself and whoever might want to listen. Take from it what you can, there's the message.

Originally planned to be a full album, only to be partially usurped by my backup project. One half is straight ahead acid tracks, the other half is pseudo folk and bluegrass played only on four stringed instruments.

I had a busy February, but I always enjoy the challenge of writing and recording as much as possible!

I've never made more than one song at once, so with my trusty saxes and DAW I came up with five tracks all heavily inspired by the band Moon Hooch and others. The whole thing was created by me sitting in my tiny bedroom with my laptop and mic and just playing and editing whenever I had the free time. Maybe people will like it, maybe not, but I made this album for me to show that I can make decent music from start to finish

I put a twist on my Six-Pack EP series. It's two Six-Packs... but the sixth track is as long as the previous five put together.

An auditory collage made to teach myself mixing/mastering in GarageBand, at the end of the fifth year of the seemingly-eternal COVID pandemic.

I've had this drone metal project inspired by groups like Sunn O))), Earth, and Boris, for quite a while but it's been a long time since I released anything under this name. So I figured it was time to revive the project and put something else out under this moniker. Something about the timing just felt right.

I asked family, friends and strangers to send me audio samples and made these songs with them. I gardened this month, extensively.

I wanted to make people feel lost and secure. My songs are born by this feeling. I was taught to follow rules and morals that I don't agree anymore, so what is me? I am the result of time and I live to make the best out of it. I made this album in my bedroom and I want to touch hearts.

I made most of these tracks in Garageband, using the loops and fx I found to be most interesting. I also used Groovepad and Bandlab, sounds from Freesound.org to add some new sounds to my music library. Thanks for listening!

Mostly dark ambient tracks, this one recorded on a cassette tape 4 track

We usually make ambient heavy metal but decided to try something different for the 2021 RPM Challenge. This record is influenced by our hometown, Eno and Roxy, and the short story I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream by Harlan Ellison.

Its a sonic rock instrumental. Lots of energy and attitude.

THE TRUTH ABOUT SPORTS is a semi-autobiographical debut release. I'm too sick of it to write about it any more but I've never made music before.
