School has started!

We had our big official opening day for school yesterday, and I introduced our theme for the year which is called Boy Story (like Toy Story). We will be studying cowboys and all the details of their lives, what they do, how they live, etc, etc. It's going to be a lot of fun. I'm scared but not scared enough not to do it. We woke up and had "Cowboy oats" to make us healthy and strong. Then we went into the newly redone school room to find their cowboy outfits (mostly thanks to Gigi!) and their Journals of Discovery made by mama. They have toy guns to shoot with holsters and the whole nine yards, a sheriff's badge, chaps and will soon have a vest. Oh and of course there are cowboy boots too. We got dressed and went off to the home of a couple in our ward who have a ranch and he ropes in competitions around the state and in the west. He showed us a few tricks about roping and how to hold it, etc, etc. It's hard to do! I felt very uncoordinated and silly but at least I tried. We then got to ride his horse "D" around the property a bit while we watched his son and grandkids actually rope cattle. It was a super fun day and we were so grateful for all the exposure we were given to the cowboy life. Brother Lackey even gave us some ropes to take home and practice with. The kids spent the rest of the day (after a bit of grocery shopping) riding their bikes out back saying "giddyup". It was fun to see them riding their pretend horses and wearing their gear. IT's going to be a fun year!

Our little cowgirl. Daddy bought her this pink hat.

Riding "D"

Me looking very uncoordinated and confused while learning to rope. I know, it looks easy but you try it sometime. It's all in the wrist he says but for some reason it took me a long time to get it.

Riding at home on his "horse".
Scout would not get anywhere near the horse.
Instead he watched the roping from afar.

Stuff we've been up to...

Bubbs lost his first tooth on Sept 23rd. Of course it was the night daddy was in California for business trip. An exciting night for us...haven't had this since March 2006!
Checking out the new space in his mouth
Caught! Scout is very focused on his cars in the mud.

Miss E is using her fork all by herself!

My two little doggies in Frankie's dog house.

Bubbs is playing soccer this year and guess who his coach is? Daddy! We had his first game on Saturday, October 3rd. Gigi, Papi and Yaya and Land were here to watch. It was an exciting day for us!

Making the big kick! We were so proud!

Scout plays the bingo game with his cheerios during Conference. He did pretty good!

Miss E was stealing cheerios off of the boys' bingo cards so we got her her own cup.

Oops, got a little hungry there for a minute. One for me, one for the card.

Miss E adores her daddy!

My little girl is growing up so fast!

Little Kardee Shoo with her pigtails. Miss E's hair isn't quite long enuf for those yet. But Kardee sports them quite well!
