7 Myths About Goals and The Truth About Them

Loading... You know that feeling when you’ve started a goal and then get knocked off course? When you ask yourself… “should I continue?”… Everyone has these moments. If you know how to respond when you encounter these moments, you’ll be able to pick yourself up and move forward productively. I want to talk about seven myths about goals which could hold you back from achieving your goals and the truth about them.

Myth #1: You need to be extremely motivated in order to achieve your goals.

Truth: While motivation can certainly help, it’s not a requirement for success. In fact, relying on motivation alone can be problematic because it tends to be fleeting. Instead, focus on building strong habits and systems to help you stay on track and make progress towards your goals. Self-discipline is a spiritual muscle we all have to train and grow if we want to achieve all God has for us.

Freedom For You & Me

Loading... I was reflecting over the weekend. It was Veteran’s Day in America and Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom.

Freedom For Others

Many in our community have served your country. Or, you have family members who do or have served. Some as a whole career of service. I am so grateful for those who lay down their lives for the freedom of others. AND… for those who wear the burden of it all at home in their absence.

I am grateful to say that in times of war, my family have served in the military to help support the efforts when asked. I’ve got the accordion camera my grandpa used to photograph his time at war, as he drove a general around in the front lines of WWII in Germany.

Some families serve their country for generations, for the cause of freedom in true acts of patriotism and bravery. For that I am grateful.

My own family has served in a different capacity for generations. On one side of my family, I am the 4th generation in full time Christian ministry. On the other side of my family, I am the 5th generation in full time Christian ministry. Most of my family have served in full time ministry for generations and all of those in my direct line of ancestry. My parents served together on church staff most of my life and my dad continues to. His parents and grandparents were in itinerate ministry at a global scale. My mom’s parents were pastors and after my grandma died, he re-married and became a missionary to Mexico for the rest of his life. I’m grateful for a rich heritage in the ways of God.

The Beginning Bible Art Journaling Challenge Lesson 4

Hello Everyone! Welcome to lesson 4 of The Beginning! (I’ve got a fun little Journaling Bible tour of some of my Journaling Bibles in this lessons video!) Throughout this series of the Bible Art Journaling Challenge, we’re looking at key scriptures to understand the Bible story, while focusing on a select few supplies which any beginner can gain confidence with. If you feel less like a beginner, you’ll enjoy all the refreshers and some new insights. In lesson 1 you learned some Bible art journaling colored pencil basics, while we talked about how God, (the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and the Father of Jesus), is the first and the last. We went on to focus on the topic of covenants! In lesson 3 we shifted gears a bit looking at the birth of Jesus and what that means for us. Now in lesson 4 we’re moving on to the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus!

If you’re just finding The Beginning, I encourage you to start with Lesson 1, as this 6 lesson series is in a particular order for you to get the most out of our time together. By the time we finish with lesson 6, you’ll be able to look back and see the Bible in a fresh way with some new understanding.
