At a Miami Beach Petco, an avian ally body-painted as a wounded bird was trapped in a cage next to giant images of parakeets who suffered and died at a breeding facility in Petco’s supply chain.

Just outside the main entrance of the Maine Lobster Festival, a woman body-painted as a lobster lay across a giant garnished dish. The display encouraged attendees to skip the carnage inside the festival and instead of taking a life for a fleeting taste, go vegan.

That’s the unmissable message that greeted rush hour commuters in Orlando when PETA supporters unfurled a massive banner to mark Boycott SeaWorld Day and call attention to how more than 40 orcas and over 500 other dolphins and whales have died at SeaWorld parks—including Orlando.

Frisky had lived her entire life indoors. After her guardian died, she found herself outside and spent the next six months struggling to survive. PETA’s Community Animal Project fieldworkers got permission to place her with a trusted shelter, where she now has the chance to enjoy life safely indoors again.

PETA deployed a life-size “crying elephant” outside the Loomis Bros. Circus to call for the release of Okha, a 56-year-old elephant. Okha was captured in India as a baby and has been forced to perform in circus acts for more than 50 years.

At Queen Mary University of London (QMUL), PETA UK placed a new billboard just a stone’s throw from the campus, warning prospective students that experimenters at the university are tormenting mice in cruel and useless sepsis experiments that consistently fail to lead to effective treatments for humans.

PETA supporters dressed as Santas flocked to Radio City Music Hall, urging the venue to stop using live camels, donkeys, and sheep in the Nativity scene in the Christmas Spectacular.

During Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, a vegan bodybuilder in a star-spangled Speedo gave free vegan hot dogs to show meat-eaters what a plant-powered body looks like and encourage everyone to swap cholesterol for compassion with vegan meals.

Animal defenders gathered at the opening of a Raising Cane’s in Florida to encourage customers to consider the animal suffering behind each combo meal. Throughout the demonstration, dozens of passing drivers noticed our signs and many expressed support by honking.
