Special Feature

Many children love to draw, color, and make things with their hands. Being able to give their creations to others gives them such a feeling of accomplishment and pride. In this collection you will find books and kits of all kinds that help young people to learn how to draw, knit, sew, make pop-poms, paint, make tie-die decorated garments, and so much more. There are also coloring and activity books in the collection that are perfect for those "I am bored" moments.

Seasonal Feature

In November and December autumn shifts into winter. During these months we get serious about bundling up in warm clothes, toasting ourselves in front of warm fires and wood stoves, and finding ways to spend really wet or cold days. I actually really look forward to this time of year as I enjoy sitting under a warm blanket reading a book. What could be better? Take a look at these wintery volumes and enjoy.

Bookish Calendar

For every month of the year TTLG has created a calendar of special days, birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays. Many calendar items are linked to reviews of books that we think you will enjoy reading.  In the books that are reviewed you can find out about people who have influenced history, and events that have shaken the world. Some of the books celebrate holidays that you enjoy, while others tell stories about animals, magical creatures, extraordinary beings, and more.

Library of Reviews

Over the last twenty years I have reviewed just shy of ten thousand books for children and young adults. All of these reviews can be found in this library, and they are divided into eight sections. Four of these sections are categorized by age group – from babies to young adults. The other three are by genre, and the eighth section contains books that are a part of a series.

Features

All the books in the TTLG library are categorized into one or more features. There are five main features. These are: Biographies, Seasonal, Holiday, Historical, and General. When you visit each of these features you will discover that they are subdivided to make it easier for you to find books on a specific subject. The biographies. historical events, and general subjects are all arranged alphabetically for you.

Editor's Choice

TTLG was an online journal and in every issue I would choose a book that I found particularly interesting or captivating. Initially I published the journal every month. Then in the early summer of 2005 I decided to publish the journal six times a year to give myself more time to work on each issue. My Editor’s Choice selection for each issue was based entirely on my personal response to it.

Award Winners

Over the years I have had the privilege to review many award winning books that have been written for readers of all ages. Some of the books that I reviewed were new titles, while others were written many years ago. Some were even published when I was a child. I finally got to read these titles as an adult and wanted to share my reviews of them with you.

Authors and Illustrators

These are the wonderful people who have created some of the most powerful and beloved books of all time. In this section you will find profiles of some of the authors and illustrators whose works are mentioned on TTLG. There is also a listing of their birthdays, arranged by month. Finally you will find a list of their websites arranged alphabetically by the author or illustrator’s name.

Bookish Calendar

I created this feature for teachers, librarians, and home school families so that they would be able tie specific calendar dates with books. This included birthdays of famous people, anniversaries of important events and moments in history, and holidays and festive days. Holidays that are not celebrated on the same day every year are not included in the calendar, but they can be found in the Holidays Feature.
