Sen. Rand Paul has become Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's pawn.

A few weeks ago Bessent insisted all the gold is in the vaults at Fort Knox.

"I haven't" seen it, Bessent said, but "people on my staff have. The treasurer has been to Fort Knox, and I'm happy to say all gold is present and accounted for."

The most powerful tool of the American imperium is not, as is generally supposed, its military, but rather its currency. 

Other nations (China, India) possess more troops, but none possesses more legal tender. There were 57,000,000,000 dollar-denominated bills in circulation last year. By comparison, euro-denominated bills -- the world's second-most-widely circulated currency, minted not by one nation but by 21—numbered 31,000,000,000. 

UK regulator prepares framework for tokenised gold

UK regulators are preparing a framework for tokenised gold as part of plans to encourage the digitisation of financial markets and to protect the dominance of London in global bullion trading.

The Financial Conduct Authority has talked to industry members, including big banks, about ways it could regulate tokenised gold in order to encourage growth in the market, according to people familiar with the watchdog's plans.

Truce between gold miners Barrick and Newmont clears way for IPO

Two of the largest gold mining companies, Barrick and Newmont, have agreed to combine some of their biggest mines -- a truce that paves the way for one of the biggest mining IPOs of the year.

The two rivals, which already partner on the Nevada Gold Mines joint venture, had been locked in a dispute as Newmont tried to block Barrick's plans for a separate listing of its North American assets, including the JV.
