Hi, I'm Dave. I've been following the Web's evolution since 2001 and have been involved in building sites for everyone from local community groups up to some of the highest-profile media organisations around such as the BBC and Financial Times.
I build sites that are fast loading, easy to navigate, elegant and accessible to all, whilst helping you to find a distinctive voice that can resonate with your audience.
Distinctive and expressive
I aim to use the capabilities of the modern Web platform to the full to create compelling sites. I avoid web frameworks designed for huge enterprises, prebuilt components and off-the-shelf themes. Instead, I build tiny design systems and information architectures for each project, resulting in lean and responsive sites that are fully infused with a unique identity.
Future-proof
Everything I build for you is yours to keep and modify how you like, without artificial divisions between design, structure, and content. From the start I will work with you to find simple ways to take full control of your online presence. I won't leave you locked in to proprietary tools or committed to expensive subscriptions.
Rooted and sustainable
I use local artists and providers, and host data with trusted UK businesses wherever possible. I design sites from the ground up to be lightweight, naturally minimising data transfer and energy usage.
