Me too. Pot lids are a lot more flexible to work with. Dropper bottles always result in a lot of overflow mess, I find. And it's difficult to just use "a little". Overall, I may have to start buying more potted paints in the future, is my thought.

Yeah, I could easily see using them as AA or AA as CSO. But the Rez figs are a lot more fun and stylish than 40K Grim DARK Future figs. Sometimes sculptors just capture something "just right". I could easily see other people not liking the style.

Thanks, the stars were a PITA but I did both "working out" in yellow as well as "cutting in" in black, several times, before I got the look I wanted [from 3' away...]. And between the faces, the grey /orange ARs, and a few other details, I got them to be more than just blue and black, which is what I wanted. I don't mind subdued, but they need little details to look right.

I've usually found GW paints pretty good for coverage, even if some of the pots dry out a bit quickly! I prefer pots to dropper bottles, so I tend to use GW for a lot of my base colour's and keep Vallejo for specific military colours.

It was a hectic game first time around. Second time with 5 was a lot more manageable.
Yes, the HBR have a drone operator, gives them a bit of parity with the superior fighting Rangers, when it works out. I need better drone models, but haven't found them yet. There are plenty of drone operator models, but extra drones to fly around don't come with them, unfortunately. An oversight on the sculptor / company's part.

Probably your defense needs to be more mindful of the Threat Range, which is usually 5 or 6 hexes. Also, be mindful of the victory conditions - if the attacker *must* close with you, set him up for an ugly counter-punch, from which he may not recover.

I think conceptually one needs to regard it as a naval game, with islands. All the forces can move and fire, and they are not hindered if they move. So gun range is the key. This could be tempered somewhat by using an "I Move, U Move, We Shoot" mechanic, which is a popular naval game choice. Altho the gun ranges are usually very long compared to the move rates. The problem is in handling the "we shoot" part, which can get a bit confusing.

Great stuff, that was an epic engagement. Even back in the 70s we quickly figured out attack was the best form of defence, but the manouvering to gain force superiority and avoid a horrific counterpunch was quite intense. The large game mat still looks fabulous too.

Ogre / GEV is an interesting and rewarding system that isn't going to go away from my play schedule for any long length of time. The play mats were an obvious purchase. However, a good question would be "Who is making knock-off versions with a similar style and hex grid?" Just like you can buy new Squad Leader and Panzer Blitz boards, I'm sure you can buy some of these mats that aren't SJG. I did want the official ones with the official art work, however.
