It was at this shithole blog that I first heard Mel Torme labeled as the Velvet Fog. I had heard of him before and knew he was a singer but couldn’t name any songs he was known for performing. So this year I finally tried a “three sisters” garden, but I made a couple of substitutions and lost control to the weeds sometime around the first hay cutting.
So the first “sister” is sunflowers, meant to be a crop unto themselves, and to provide a “pole” for the pole beans. I planted the “mammoth” variety. This one is about 9″ tall.
