Addi's special day

Addi got baptized on Saturday, November 3rd, 2013. It was such an amazing day. My oldest daughter made the decision to get baptized and become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We were so blessed to have over 50 people attend this special day for Addi. Family started to arrive on Friday night for her baptism the next day at 10 am. Addi was pretty quite that morning. She told me she was a little bit nervous, but mostly excited. We arrived at the church a little bit early to find a baptism jumpsuit for her and her dad. Then we waited in the chapel while the rest of our loving friends and family arrived. Addi's aunt, Tiffany gave a wonderful talk about the 3 bears of baptism. She brought 3 little bears. One for bearing your testimony, one for bearing one another's burdens and one for bearing His name. She did a great job. Addi's friend, Madison was also getting baptized that day and her aunt also gave a great talk on the Holy Ghost. It was her turn to get baptized. The feeling was so special as she went into the baptismal font with her dad. We watched as she was baptized and then I was ready with a towel to help her get dried off and dressed. Next she got to put on her BEAUTIFUL dress and she looked like an angel, with the fresh glow of being clean and pure from baptism. I pulled her hair into a bun, placed a flower on her head, she slipped into her "high" heel shoes and we walked back to the chapel where her dad would confirm her a member of the church. Tim was so nervous, but he did an exceptional job. What a special day for Addi and the one's that love her most to share with us. Next, we headed back to our house where we had Hawaiian haystacks at Addi's request with lots and lots of desserts. She got to spend the rest of the day playing with her cousins. It was a perfect day.

Addi, I'm so proud of you. You're becoming an amazing young lady. Thank you for being a great daily example to me, your dad and your sisters. I feel so blessed for the privilege of being your mom. I pray that I will be able to show love and acceptance to everyone the way that you do. I love you so much!! :)

Halloween 2012

Our first Halloween in our new neighborhood! The kids actually got tons of candy and we had a ton of trick-or-treaters come to our house! I thought there was no way it would compare to what we're used to in Eagle Mountain, but it was still pretty fun even though we missed our EM friends. Addi was a girl skeleton, Hally was Little Red Riding Hood and Kendall was a fairy. The weather was beautiful. We didn't even have to bundle up in coats this year!

Addi turns 8

Addi is 8! I love this little girl so much! She has such a tender heart, she's a great helper, she loves to read, she does great at school, people love to be around her, she likes to organize things and she's very creative! I am so blessed to be her mom and can't imagine my life without her!

This year for her birthday, we had just been in our new home for only a few weeks and didn't really have any new friends yet to have a friend party. I felt bad about this, because turing 8 is an important birthday. She was a sweetheart and was fine just having a family party.

Part of her present was getting her new room ready. This is an old door that I painted blue for her headboard...

Then my parents came over (so excited they live less than 5 minutes away now!), we had pizza, opened presents and had cake and ice cream. It was a fun low-key birthday. Sometimes those are kind of nice.

Usually it takes me hours to make my kids' birthday cakes, but this year Addi wanted strawberry cake with chocolate frosting and a strawberry on top. Easiest cake ever! Thanks Addi!

More July Love

The 24th of July! I look forward to this day every year. Always on the 24th we go to my parents house in Mapleton. Mapleton really does put on a spectacular fireworks show. I know everyone is partial to their own town's firework show, but really Mapleton is the best I've seen. I'm not sure if it's because we have the best seats in town, or if it's because the rich orthodontists on the hill buy the fireworks and feel the need to outdo themselves each year?

We get to my mom's house early in the evening so we can spend some time doing crafts with the kids. Then we have a BBQ and then the most famous ping pong ball drop. The kids get a wrist band, then when they call their age group, they gather around. The helicopter drops a huge bucket of ping pong balls with numbers on them. The kids grab a ping pong ball and hope their number is called so they can win a new BIKE! Hally won last year:)

Then the kids play, we listen to the music and wait for the, oh so AMAZING FIREWORKS! It's the best time ever! I love it! Then after it's over, hundreds of people trample my parents field as a short cut to get to their cars. I'm pretty sure we could make bank if we charged $5 a car for them to park in the field. We talk about it every year.

4th of July

I LOVE July! Who doesn't? Red, white and blue, fireworks, BBQ's, FREEDOM! I still get chills/emotional when I hear/feel a jet fly over or hear the song, I'm proud to be an American. Wait, did I mention that I love July??;)

A Sunday in July!

The actual 4th of July. We headed to our friends, aunts house in Provo right next to the stadium. It was so fun to be able to hang out with our awesome friends, watch the kids play, listen to the music, eat yummy food and watch the fireworks!

Addi and Hally had their first "gymnastics meet", which was very small and casual. They just competed against the girls on their level. Their teacher didn't even announce a winner, but they did have judges and were scored just like at a normal meet. All of the girls got a trophy. It was really fun to watch. I have missed Kristy McMurray's gym in Eagle Mt. Now that we've moved I haven't been able to find a similar place. Kristy had all of the equipment in her basement and was sooo good. She was a competitive gymnast and decided to open a gym in her basement, providing affordable and high quality gymnastics. The girls thought she was mean at first, because she was so tough. There was no down time during their 1.5 hours of gym each week. If they were waiting their turn, they had to be doing sit-ups and push-ups. See what I mean by tough? I liked it though because they improved so much!

Kindergarten Graduation

Hally graduated from Kindergarten! She is such a smarty pants. She got the highest scores on everything. I hope this continues as she goes through each grade. Mrs. Rigby was such a good teacher and she will surely be missed! We're so proud of you Hally, keep up the good work!

Yep. I'm thirty. I feel old. My body is a little more achy, my curves are a little more round and I have a few more wrinkles. Let's face it. I'm an old lady now. Okay, so maybe not an old lady, but I do feel older. It's weird how going from 29 to 30 can make you feel so much older. Anyways, every year on (or around) my birthday I like to do a post about me. Stuff I like, stuff I don't like, opinions I have, etc.

I'm obsessed with The Vampire Diaries. My close friends and family can attest to this. I'm especially fond of one vampire in particular, Damon Salvator. Oh my goodness, that's all I'll say.
I'm still working. I originally stated that I'd work for one year, but lets face it, we all knew that it would turn into a lot longer. Things never go as planned, right? I've been working now for 16 months. I like my job. It's really physical and I feel like a tough chick working where I do. I run huge machines. I can fix them (for the most part) when they're broke and I'm super good at my job. I'm the only girl on my crew which has it's goods and bads. There's less drama, but lots of sports talk (which I'm not too shabby at joining in on) AND lot's of sex talk. Hmmmm. I've kind of become immune to this sort of talk. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing. I have seniority on my shift, so when my boss is gone, I'm in charge. I know, it's pretty cool. I get to tell all the boys what to do. I'm nice, but I'm not afraid to tell people what to do and I can hold my own. People respect me, because I'm a HARD worker. I give the young guys a run for their money. I'm super tiny compared to them and yet my supervisor told me that I'm the hardest worker in my area. Made me feel good. I can see myself working there for along time. I can see myself being a boss, sooner than later. BUT, the big question is, is that what I want? There's a lot to think about. We'll probably buy a house this summer and then the question will have to be answered. Continue working where I'm at and move up the chain and an amazing company, or quit and open my daycare. To be continued...
Going along with the above, number 2 and I think I talked about this last year too. Here it goes. If you're struggling financially or want to get ahead in life, it's on you. I do believe there are certain situations that may need financial assistance, but for the most part people are irresponsible and lazy. Simple as that. If you don't have the money, don't spend it. If you owe money, YOU need to pay it back. If you rely on the government and/or church to pay your bills, get off your butt and figure it out. (Like I said before there are SOME situations that I completely agree it's okay to rely on the government/church.) Don't take the easy way out like so many people do. It's not fair. The church wants us to be stay at home moms, BUT they never said they would pay your bills for the duration of your children's childhood so you can stay at home. The fact of the matter is, in a perfect world I would do just that, stay at home. With my husbands income, I will always have to do some form of work. Inside the home or outside the home. That's okay with me. I like to contribute. It's so frustrating when I'm working my ass off to be self sufficient and so many other people are relying on other people to pay their bills/taking the east way out. I could go on for hours, but my rant ends here.
We're 99.9% sure that we're done having babies. Eeeeeeek. This makes me kind of sad. I've been getting rid of all my baby stuff. My baby is 2 1/2 and I am trying to enjoy every single phase with her, because she is my last:(
I'm a home body. Tim likes to always be going and doing and gets kind of depressed when he's stuck at home. He calls it being a, "Cooped up duck!" I on the other hand am perfectly happy being a hermit at home. I enjoy cleaning my house, organizing stuff and watching my shows. Don't get me wrong, I love to be social too, but there's nothing like chillin' at home.
My favorite thing to do is interior design. I LOVE LoVe love it! I often find myself daydreaming about my dream house and everything it would entail. People always ask me to help them, which makes me nervous, because I know what I like, but I'm not sure they will like it. I love to paint furniture most of all. I hate that my husband has such an opinion on house stuff. I wish he would just give me full reigns and let me do whatever. He's never sure of what I do. It makes me mad. I tell him that I know what looks good! LOL! I tell him that his passion is sports and my passion is home stuff! We'll see how it goes when we buy our new house. Wish me luck!
I hate that the world has become so attached to their phones and internet. It make me even more mad that I'm one of them. I don't even have internet on my phone and I still find away to be on Facebook or Pinterest or Draw Something or my blog. GAH! They need AA for these kinds of people. By the way, have you noticed that blogging isn't as popular as it used to be. Like 3-4 years ago everybody was blogging all the time. I notice that less and less people are blogging now.
I want to get healthy. That's the number two reason I want to quit my job. I feel like I have no time to be healthy working graves. First of all I get very little sleep. I eat horribly, because my eating schedule is so messed up. I don't have time to exercise. Yeah, it's pretty bad. Can't wait to be healthy again.

Enterprise Reservoir/Easter

This year for Easter weekend we headed south to camp with the Stubbs clan. We camped at Enterprise Reservoir, which was probably one of the neatest places I've ever camped. It's located about 45 minutes west of Cedar City. Everybody had a trailer but us. I've slept in a tent my whole life. Everyone was shocked that we were going to sleep in a tent. They were so nice to offer us beds in their trailers. We decided to go ahead and sleep in our tent, because that's what we always do. Addi and Hally slept in Grandma and Grandpa Stubbs' trailer. Well, we froze. I don't think I've ever been so cold and I've tented it in some pretty cold weather. Kendall slept in the middle of Tim and I so we couldn't huddle together for heat. I was awake the whole night making sure Kendall was warm. AND I had to go to the bathroom twice in the middle of the night. One time a mouse ran out of the outhouse at me. Awesome. When the sun came up it started to warm us up and it felt so nice. I was glad that night was over. The next night we stayed in Larry and Becky's heated trailer. Blissful.

The Easter Bunny brought Easter baskets to grandma and grandpa's trailer. I forgot to get a picture, but we'll get some pics of them in their Easter dresses this Sunday. On Easter morning we had a little devotional about Christ. There were some great talks by cousins Baylie and Kenadee and Tim's brother, Brandon. All of the grandkids also sang a few primary songs.

I'm so thankful for Christ and the sacrifice he made for ME. He atoned for MY sins which is the most transcendent thing anyone has EVER done. I love him. Just thinking about him and his example makes me want to be a better person.

In Love with Jackson Hole

We decided to take a weekend trip to Jackson Hole. We left Friday morning and came back Sunday. It took about 5 hours to get there. There's so much to do in Jackson and the surrounding areas that a weekend trip clearly wasn't enough time. We tried to squish as much in as possible, but there was so much we didn't even get to do/see. I would recommend going in the summer or the winter, but not really the spring time. We were limited by the lack of snow/too much snow. In the winter there is lots to do like skiing, snowmobiling, sleigh riding, etc. In the summer you can hike, mountain bike, fish, etc. All while taking in the beauty of your surroundings.

The drive there was beautiful, especially Star Valley.

We stayed at The Lodge at Jackson Hole. It's a Best Western Plus. All of their rooms were mini suites and newly renovated. Definitely the nicest room I've stayed in. Just take a look!

Tim, wishing he was skiing. Him and Addi brought all of their ski stuff and planned to go, but Addi ended up with a bad sore throat and high fever and didn't feel like skiing. Tim felt bad leaving the family on our vacation to go skiing, even though I kept telling him to not feel bad and that he should go. Forbes ranked Jackson as the number one ski resort in America, which it surely was and Tim didn't even get to ski it. Oh well, maybe next time.

Then we headed to the Grand Teton National Park. You could only drive 25 miles in, because of the snow, but look at how amazing the Tetons are. Jackson lake is frozen over at the foot of the mountains. I bet it's a sight to see in the summer, but it's just as pretty in the winter!

Oh look there I am! Excuse Kendall's messy hair. She hates to have anything in her hair. Whenever I put something in it to keep it out of her eyes, she takes it right out. I propped the camera up on a rock to take this picture and forgot to fix her hair. Oh well.

Then we drove to the Grand Targhee ski resort in hopes of going tubbing, but we were out of luck. They closed the tubbing hill the weekend before. Darnit. It was a pretty drive and I'm glad we saw it.

Addi's 1st Grade Program

The 1st grade program at Hidden Hollow was darling! The theme was "Around the World" and Addi even had a speaking part. We were already to record it on the one side of the stage where everyone was saying their parts, when all of the sudden we heard her speaking on the other side of the stage! Darnit! We missed it on the video! She did such a good job though. She said, "Dancing is very popular in Germany. Many people would meet their future spouses at dances." Then her class did a cute German dance, all dressed up in German attire. So cute! I was begging her to smile during her program, because she's notorious for not smiling when she's in front of people. She promised me she would, but as you can see in the video, she doesn't look very happy. LOL! One of these days I'll get her to smile more! I do think she's the prettiest one. I may be a little biased though:)

Disney on Ice

We surprised the kids and took them to Disney on Ice a few weeks ago. They had no idea where we were going. They only knew it was a surprise. When we got to the ESA, Addi said, "Dad, I don't want to go to a Jazz game." She has been to more Jazz games than me! We handed her a ticket when we got inside and she read it and was pretty excited. We saw the Toy Story 3 Disney on Ice. It was so cute! It's a little pricey once you buy 5 tickets plus a cool Jesse slushy cup. BUT I figure, it's all about making memories and making your kids happy, right? You don't always have to do expensive stuff to make memories, but once in awhile it's okay.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's was crazy busy this year. I had to prepare a Valentine craft for Addi's class, which took quite awhile. Then getting the kids Valentine's all ready to go for school. Before I knew it, it was 9:00pm the night before Valentine's and I had already been up for almost 24hrs. straight. So I took a personal day at work. Yay! I was able to have a full night's sleep and then wake up and finish what I needed to, plus I had enough time and energy to make a nice family dinner! Tim sent me roses with a card that said, "I love you more than the Packers, Jazz and Dodgers combined." Yep, that's Tim for ya! Lol! I loved it! AND I love all four of my Valentine's more than anything!

Happy Super Bowl!

Tim and the girls got to go watch the Super Bowl at the movie theatre, thanks to our friends the Merkleys. I had to go to bed, because I got to work that night. Bummer.

The Academy of Ballet

Addi and Hally have been taking ballet this past year at The Academy of Ballet. There are 4 academy's in Utah County and they're all preparing for the big ballet in June, Swan Lake. They had a small in-studio performance at Christmastime. While I like their instructor a lot and have noticed them progressing, I have not been thrilled with some things that have happened. Like no one showing up to teach the class, TWICE! Then when I called the main owner lady to complain, she just came up with excuses and never apologized. Yeah, whatever. We will finish out the year and let them preform in the big ballet in June, but then that's it. We'll find somewhere else to go and I won't recommend them to anyone.

Thanksgiving

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Cedar City. I LOVE Cedar City and really wish we could move back there someday. It's a quaint little town. This year, because the Stubbs' clan has gotten so big, we had turkey day in the church. The church is right across the street from Larry and Becky's house, so it was perfect. The kids could run around a little bit more and people could move around a little bit more. It worked out nicely. The day started out with the annual turkey bowl, which I'm bummed I didn't get any pictures of:( All the boys get together and play football. There are always some fun stories to be tolled of the turkey bowl. Then Tim had to hurry home and watch the Packer's game (GO Packers), which nearly made him miss dinner. Dinner was marvelous, as usual. Becky is a WAY good cook, then we all contributed something to her marvelous dinner. It was nice to be together, all of us except Elder Brock Stubbs, he's on a mission. After dinner we played some fun games in the gym, grandma had fun crafts to make, we ate some more food and enjoyed each other's company.

The next day all of the sister in-laws headed to St. George to do some shopping. Not necessarily black friday shopping. We just wanted to do something fun together, without the kids, so St. George it was. Once again I'm bummed I didn't get a picture of some of my favorite people ever, my sister in-laws.

Then the following day Tim and his brothers played paint ball pretty much all day. My SIL, Krista showed me how to make way cute, felt, hair flowers. Then we headed for home and back to work. It was a wonderful time had by all:)

Kendall turned two on November 17th. My kids are growing up and I'm feelin' old. For Kenny's big day we had a small family get together. She loved everything about her birthday. The pizza, the presents and the CAKE! Kendall is by far our most independent, outgoing and mischievous child. It's never good when Kendall is quiet, because you know she's up to NO good. She's drawn on the fridge and kitchen floor with all different colors of Sharipe. Black crayon now decorates our walls in several different areas. All I can say is thank goodness for the magic eraser! It's worked pretty good for the most part. Her favorite words are, "No" and "Don't". She is a little girl of few words. We keep waiting for her to start talking up a storm, but she's not really ready. She has her own language and knows the important words like, "candy." She's very smart and always knows what we're talking about. Just because of her age, she's not about to be left out by her sisters. Whatever Addi and Hally do, Kendall must do too. It's so cute to watch her mimic her sisters. If she gets in trouble she makes a painstakingly sad face and lets out a quiet whimper of a cry that no one could ever be mad at for very long. We love this little girl sooooooooo much!!!!!!!! Happy Birthday sweet and sassy Kendall!
