Framingham Fear on Splatterday!
The New Dead Book Signing 2 PM!
TOMORROW! Whatever the weather, I’ll be there! Saturday, February 27th, at 2 PM — join us in Framingham, MA to sign and celebrate the recent debut of The New Dead, featuring my new short story “Copper.”
I’ll be with editor Chris Golden and fellow contributors Holly Newstein and old pal and Little Brothers co-conspirator in crime Rick Hautala at 2 PM at the Framingham, Massachusetts Barnes & Noble (1 Worcester Rd., Framingham, MA 01701, call 508-628-5567 for directions/details).

Tales from San Papel Debuts Saturday!
San Papel Saturday is Upon Us!
CCSer Pat Barrett created this cover for the new western comic anthology Tales from San Papel. Pat has posted a cool step-by-step slice of self-analysis at his blog/journal:
Tales from San Papel debuts TOMORROW at The Silent Barn, a performance space and zine library in Bushwick, Brooklyn (technically Ridgewood, Queens).
This brand-new comics anthology from the Center from Cartoon Studies cartooning community is jam-packed with new stories and art by Pat Barrett, Casey Bohn, G.P. Bonesteel, Canto, John Chad, Lena Chandhok, J.L. DuRona, Jon Fine (that’s the splash page to Jon‘s story on the right), Holly Foltz, Beth Hetland, Ben Juers, CJ Joughlin, Nomi Kane, Josh Kramer, Jesse Mead, Carl Mefferd, Monty Montgomery, Nick Patten, M. Sauter, Betsey Swardlick, Laura Terry and Jen Vaugh — an amazing lineup of new talent, eager to tell their tales of the invented western town of San Papel!
Many of these folks will be at the Silent Barn hoedown, and truth to tell I wish I could be there, too — but a feller can’t be in two places at one time, try as he might. Still, I’ll be there in spirit, and hope some of you can join the festivities.

The Silent Barn is a DIY music venue and zine library just over the the border of Bushwick. Its proprietors have invited CCS to host a night of workshops and book signings. Over a dozen CCS students and alumni will make the long trek to Queens to sell their comics. Faculty members will be on hand to answer questions about CCS, and offer cartooning workshops and portfolio reviews. The workshops and book-signing event is open to the public and free of charge. The night will be capped off with the kind of rock show that only the Silent Barn can deliver.
CCS’s caravan of cartoonists includes Pat Barrett , Garry-Paul Bonesteel, Jon Chad, Robyn Chapman, Aaron Cockle, Ken Dahl, Sean Ford, Colleen Frakes, Beth Hetland, Nomi Kane, Betsey Swardlick, Mario Van Buren, Jen Vaughn and Emily Wieja — and more! There’s, like 20 CCSers going to this gig!
P.S.: I’m in Tales from San Papel, too, with three full pages of brand-new, never-before-published work — and that’s the least of what’s in the book. Be sure to check it out, folks!
