Hanging in there.....

So technology is so annoying! For some reason my laptop won't download pics on this blog anymore for some reason! Ugggggh! So I haven't been able to update it at all. Tonight I finally decided to try Bryan's lap top and it seems to have worked. The problem???? All of the pictures I want to download are on my laptop. Seriously I really hate technology sometimes! And since I am surrounded by boxes since we are moving next week guess I won't be swapping pics to blog anytime soon.....I kind of miss my blog/journal....it was the only thing that helped me remember!! I guess for now I'm just "hanging in there" by my finger nails....Trying to stay positive and chuggind diet coke and eating chocolate!! Cheers!

Christmas Recap....

We decided to get only one big gifts this year for each kid....instead of going to Disneyland which is what I wanted to do.....but the kids were happy with their new obsessions!!! New ipods for the younger three and a new lap top for Sarah. Can we say SPOILED ROTTEN!!! We had them open them a few days early so they would have something to do in the car on the way to Kingman. We stayed at my parents and spend Christmas with Bryan's parents and my grandparents. I cooked my rear end off nonstop! Missed eating OUT like at Thanksgiving!!! Then we rolled up to Vegas to visit Grandma Roxie in rehab and see the Marolfs! That was a quick 4 day road trip and the rest of break was spent "hanging out" which I kind of really enjoyed! It's been nice not to have to stress over entertaining the kids....even if they are now all sitting on the couch playing mind craft together....kind of playing together....and so much quieter and no messes! So there you have it TECHNOLOGY is the two edged sword we swung this Christmas!! HO HO HO!

Merry Mesa Temple Christmas

We were so excited to be able to walk around the temple and see the lights without freezing temps and snow! I don't think we even needed gloves or warm jackets! We tried to meet up with the Bargos but ended up just missing them. The little kids were soooooooo obnoxious and hiper! With gymnastics going on near the camels on the lawn and lots of running and yelling. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! Mom went again with the young women and it was a much better experience!

Electric light parade

This was a new experience for us! Usually it is just too dang cold to sit outside at night to watch a parade BUT this year the weather was great! Bryan's new law firm had a float that we helped build and the two little girls got to ride on while Bryan walked beside it. The floats theme was "Naughty or Nice" and there was a Grinch as the judge and the little kids were the jury. CUTE! We watched the parade with the Bargos and had great seats! Such a fun "NEW" tradition here in warm Arizona!

I miss having my wonderful sis in law close to do our annual family photo shoot! What was I going to do this year?! Lucky for me my sister is now close and agreed to snap a few pics for our Christmas card. Well the first photo shoot did not go well....Paige ended up making weird poses with her hands and ruined several. And of course my sister was to nice to say anything to her! Uggggh! It is NOT fun to come up with outfits and get everyone looking their best! Only to have the pictures ruined by photo bombing Paige!! So we had a good little tantrum by mom and tried again the next week. The kids insisted on trying to have the dog in the pics and that was a disaster as I thought it would be! I'm not sure about the hands on our hips idea either? BUT in the end I guess these turned out a little better....Good enough for Christmas cards I guess! These are the unedited version! You need to see what I was working with! I will be hiring someone to take pics when the crazy Holidays are over!!! Everyone say cheese!!!

Thanksgiving Golden Corral Style!

When my 90 year old grandma insisted on making Thanksgiving dinner I knew we needed an intervention! Who wants to eat something that may have been cooked, left on the counter for days/hours, possibly worse! So I insisted we "treat" everyone to Golden Corral and then they could all get what they wanted! And it was safe to eat! AND what did my grandma who informed me she "HATES" turkey eat for Thanksgiving dinner???! PIZZA! yep! Bryan and his mom had Chinese food too! See this way everyone got what they wanted and I got COTTON CANDY! I love this tradition and just might keep doing Thanksgiving Golden Corral Style!

Happy Halloween...a bit bloody this year!

Carving pumpkins got a bit bloody this year as mom decided to use her cutco knives that can cut through nails!!! Probably not the best idea! Just as Bryan was telling her to hand the knife over that she was going to cut herself and she assured him NO she was NOT.....SLICE!!! And Paige's pumpkin turned into JAWS the shark finger eating pumpkin! Mom has decided to retire her pumpkin carving skills from here on out! The kids refused to wear any old costumes so mom was on the hunt for anything that would cost less than $20! Carter insisted on being a zombie, Hailey on being a soccer player, Paige an angel--luckily her baptism dress still fit--unlike Sarah whose fencing outfit proved too small so she had to improvise as a witch! We were happy cousin Becca agreed to come along this year! Sofie was a huge help handing out candy with mom and enjoyed wearing her tutu--until she tried to walk! Mom tried to duplicate last years dinner and it was a fail....next year she may just serve cereal! So glad we are done with this holiday and looking forward to Christmas....oh I mean Thanksgiving!!

Little Paige is growing up!! I'm not sure we are read for this!! She was sooooo stubborn and had to have her birthday party the day fall bread started so there were few in numbers! We still had fun tie dying t-shirts, eating cake and ice cream, and of course presents!! We just love Paigey and all the excitement she brings to the family! Happy Happy 9th Birthday dear Paige!

We have wanted to take the kids to a Diamond Back baseball game for a while now. So now that we are here in AZ it was the perfect time to introduce the kids to baseball and the Arizona Diamondbacks! We had planned it as a mini family reunion with both sets of grandparents but both grandpas got sick at the last minute and weren't able to make it! Grandma Mim braved her way down to go to the game. The kids were excited to invite friends to take the missing grandparents tickets!!! Not sure how much they got out of the game but they had fun in their matching shirts, free bobble heads, icee, treats, and lots of singing take me out to the ball game. It wasn't long though before Paige was fading fast so we headed home and loved making a fun memory!

Back to school!! For me too!

We were all ready to go back to school~~kind of boring around here without all our old friends to hang out with! Sarah is going to a charter high school that requires uniforms! Thank you Thank you Thank you!! And is quite the eye opening experience for her! She has never seen so many tattoos or piercings and never heard more swear words in her life! Seminary gets her (and me) up at 5:30 AM and is across the street from her high school. Our next door neighbor just happened to be LDS and a senior so she carpools with her to seminary! Wahoooooo for me! She LOVED her brand new orange shoes and is quite obsessed with shoes as of late. Hailey and Carter went back to being in different classes this year! They are about the same height and ready for 5th grade! Hailey has made friends super fast of course but Carter is still shy and slowly working on it! He would rather sit and read a book at recess!! uggghhhh! But I feel bad they even have to go outside at 105 and humid! YUCK! Paige is doing great at school but hates to sleep alone in her own room! She often goes and climbs in bed with Carter who is very good about it! She is my fashionista and always has to has some type of drama in regards to what to wear in the morning! Oh how I miss uniforms!!! AND FINALLY I WENT BACK TO SCHOOL TOO! I'm a para educator for kindergarteners! So basically I'm teaching for $10 an hour! AND sucking it up so I can get some current work experience....can't believe it's been 12 years since I've had a job! Also going to find out how many hours I need to get my certificate current...but we will have benefits! Going to get dentists appnts. made ASAP! Wasn't really ready to go back to work but the job fell in my lap so I took it! And after this first week Oh the stories I can tell....never a dull moment with those kindergarten kids!

Sarah & Hailey's Bday Bash!

This year I convinced the girls to share a party!!! wooohooooo!! That was so nice!!! Although 14 girls were a bit loud it was a lot of fun! Sarah found some swimming pool games: watermelon relay, Frisbee toss, blow the beach balls, etc. I was so happy to find some super cute cup cakes at Walmart of all places and Genos pizza was really good too! Sarah finally got an iphone and Hailey got a super cute orange and grey paisley beach cruiser bike--again at Walmart! I need to go get a picture of that! She got it a week early since she wore me down with her constant nagging!!:)This marked the 27th day we have been here and so far the kids are pretty happy....they still would go back to Utah in a heart beat but are enjoying the pool and school starts next week. I can't believe how fast time flies!! A 14 and 11 year old!!! woooohoooooo!!

Fear Factor and Uncle Todd turns the BIG 4-0!

We were so excited the Marolf's came down to AZ to celebrate Uncle Todd's birthday! Mom decided that turning 40 meant facing some fears and planned a "Fear Factor" party! After the yummy cake Aunt Malaine made the kids got sick from yummy Fear Factor treats! Mom convinced them that it was worth the $5 bill mom was waving around! The lemons were pretty easy, plugging their nose helped get the V-8 down, the dill pickle chips were pretty nasty, but the Vienna sausages were horrible! AND Hailey was the only one able to eat the sardine and WIN FEAR FACTOR!!! Go Hailey!!!! AND then it was time to jump in the pool fully clothed!! Yep another Fun Memory!! We had a great little family reunion and can't wait until next time!

Camp JJ Finale

For the past 7 years I have had the fun experience of taking Sarah, then Hailey, then Carter, and today finally Paige to Camp Jeremiah Johnson... It was HOT and Paige didn't feel that great so kind of glad it's my camp JJ finale!! I love how excited they get about shooting arrows and bb guns! We need to do these things more often!! I asked the girls to NOT get wet but they did of course! Then complained there wet jeans were giving them a rash! Hailey freaked out when we got and she got her wet shoes off to see her white puckered feet. She thought she was going to die!! I'd say the sign of a fun day were their dirty wet shoes!

Battlecreek Falls Hike-hello Summer!

Bryan has been itching to take the kids on a few hikes this summer so he couldn't wait for the first day of summer to get here! The kids started complaining 5 min. in and drove us crazy the whole way up to the water fall! The throw up we passed on the way up didn't help! Just glad it wasn't my kids! They barely were able to make it back to the car and demanded to go to subway immediately! Who would have thought a half hour up and a half hour down would be so difficult! sheeeeeesh!

Thanksgiving Point tulips with Grandma

This was our third trip to Thanksgiving Point this month to enjoy the tulip festival! The first trip it was cold and half the tulips hadn't opened up yet. The second trip we went with our good friends the Footes and the kids had a blast...no camera so no pics! sad! And finally Grandma Roxie came to visit and we just had to take her too! The other kids were done going to look at the tulips so just Sarah came along! Thanksgiving Point just does an amazing job with all the beautiful tulips....THOUSANDS! Bryan jokingly dared Sarah to find even one weed throughout all the grounds and she only found ONE! She had a good time rolling down the grass and riding grandmas scooter! So fun to enjoy the beautiful grounds of Thanksgiving Point and not have to try to duplicate it with my yard! Those darn deer eat all of my tulips! Fun memory with Grandma!

This was such a hit with the Activity Day Girls last year they did the same thing this year....good thing I kept those centerpieces for a year so they could reuse them!! Hailey didn't want to go for some strange reason but Paige was thrilled to finally get her chance to dance with Daddy! The photo shoot before hand just cracked me up! Hailey just kills me when it comes time to take a picture!! Bryan refused to shave and decided he like the scruffy look! The girls had a great time with dad and I took Sarah and Carter to Artic Circle for dinner with MOM!! Can we say " we LOVE FRY SAUCE"!!!

Grandma Mim comes for a visit!

Grandma Mim came for a few days and we all enjoyed her and some sunshine!! A few highlights were eating out at Sizzler, Pizza Pie Cafe,and Wendys. Dad insisted we go up to Salt Lake to the Capitol to see our pioneer ancestors name on a plaque. It was funny to try and find it! After asking several people and them having no clue we finally found it! Then we enjoyed the sunshine and walked around City Creek and the kids talked mom into buying them sunglasses since it was soooo sunny! Sarah talked Grandma Mim into some new shoes and the kids had fun coloring at the Disney store. The BEST part was getting a ditch day from school! Gotta love those! We sure love Grandma MIM!!!!

Poor Paigey!

I wasn't prepared to see a bloody Paige when I picked up the kids from school last week! I guess a older boy knocked her into a fire hydrant which cut her eyelid pretty badly! The kids were so upset and frantic when I arrived and the nurse was doing her best to stop the bleeding. I ended up taking her into the pediatrician who put in STITCHES! Paige was sooooooo brave! We ended up having to go to dinner at Chili's to cheer her up! She has had quite the shiner the past week with a variety of color! We just tell her what nice eye shadow she is wearing! Seriously we were so thankful it wasn't worse! So blessed it was her eyebrow that was injured and not her eye!

Carter wanted to have a tie dye t-shirt party so luckily I stocked up on the stuff in summer since its a "seasonal" thing! The day of his party was a blizzard and made it pretty clear we were in the "winter season"!! He had his good friends from school over and Paige and Hailey got to make shirts too! It was a fun day! Carter got to go to his friend Alec's party right after his and didn't get home until 8pm! He was a tired but happy boy! Carter is always my sweet and happy boy! Heavenly Father knew I needed him to balance out his drama queen sisters!! We love you Carter!!Big 10 year old!

What do you do in the winter time...I decorate!!

So we have been blessed with highs in the teens and so in order to survive cabin fever I decided a little painting would be in order....well the priming got out of hand and I not only primed the coffee table but then I found myself priming my old dresser and to my horror I even primed my kitchen table....I just COULD NOT STOP!!! I almost primed Bryan's desk but luckily he threatened me with bodily harm if I came close!! ha! So here are the before and after shots: We have had this coffee table since we got married--it was one of the first brand new pieces of furniture we bought--I didn't want to throw it away since I have sweet memories of changing Sarah's diapers on it!! It was a great changing table and then stored the kids books for years!!

And now the AFTER :

Then the dresser I bought at a garage sale about 17 years ago...the mirror was coming apart from the back and it's so old the mirror always looked dirty. So I decided to liven up my entry way and found a stencil I LOVED but then HATED!!! I will NEVER stencil again....there is a reason the middle drawer is painted black....it turned out the worst and luckily painting it black broke up the pattern nicely!

And the After---I really just LOVE it and am so happy when I walk in the house!

Now the table pics suck...I didn't love how the middle leaf didn't match the rest of the table and as you can see I'm in love with BLACK and WHITE so what else to do to a black table but paint the top white!!! IT turned out to be a disaster!! I won't bore you with details but it was a nightmare....I don't love it but I think when I get the chairs redone I will love it....

And THE MOST IMPORTANT FACT IS I SPENT NO MONEY!!! Other than the stencil I used left over paint and shopped my closet and the rest of the house for my gallery wall....Oh I did buy the chevron rug for $38 on sale at Rugs USA>>>>!!

A NEW new "word" for this year...yeah I know I'm non-comittal like that! ha!

So we were going over this past years goals....only set two and didn't accomplish ONE! lets see there was treat and fix my heel problem--I did get some better shoes that help a lot so that kind of counts and the other was Pay off highest interest credit card...now that is a good one!!! hahhahahahahahahahbaahahahee hee hee! Last years word was "TRY" and I did try a lot of new things!!! My old word I was considering was "dream" but I think I need to be more of a realist and think a better word for this year is "DELEGATE"!!! I can always dream of going to Hawaii but I need to delegate to survive around here! So my goals this year are to "DELEGATE" some dinners to Sarah and teach her how to cook more than mac n cheese!! And also I'm going to "DELEGATE" mowing the yard and teach Hailey and Carter how to do it! And also "DELEGATE" laundry and teach all the kids how to seperate by color and wash their clothes! Yes it's going to be hard for me to relinquish control of these things being done correctly but I'm getting on the "DELEGATE" bus and hope we don't run off a cliff! Wish me luck!

I am going to STOP doing EVERYTHING!! DELEGATE< DELEGATE: DELEGATE!!!!

A very Quesenberry Christmas...ho ho HO!

Our Christmas Eve tradition of the red balloon release and wishing baby Jesus a happy birthday didn't quite happen as usual. Mom hadn't felt well all day and with the major snow storm the helium balloons didn't get done. So mom found some normal ones instead and we had birthday cake with candles and sang Happy Birthday dear Jesus!

Another tradition was new pajamas!!! Yay for warm and cozy new pajamas!!

And of course there is the fun card games and games with the family!

Temple Square Christmas Tradition...

I wasn't sure we were going to make it to Temple Square this year but I just couldn't pass up the warm weather (40 degrees) we had one a wonderful Sunday night without snow!It's always hard for grandma and grandpa to walk in the ice and snow so we were so thankful for the great weather that night! It was VERY crowded but the lights and manger scenes were just beautiful and really reminds us of what Christmas is really all about!

Christmas Cruise.....Lame last day!

We knew when the day started with rain it was going to be a long day at sea! We tried Camp Carnival but that was a dudd so we played some cards, watched some tv, read books while the kids entertained themselves. Aunt Malaine was sick with the flu so it was kind of a lame last day....

And of course we loved having Skippy our Christmas Elf join us and the towel animals were fun too!
