Global Greening Hits New Record

Global mean vegetation greening reached a record high last year, extending an already significant multi-decade upward trend, according to recent findings published in Nature. In fact, 2025 set a record for global vegetation greening with a steepening of the average trend. Top of the list with 77.6% showing extra greening was croplands, meaning more food is becoming available to boost global diets.

According to the New York Times:
Europeans are being crushed by deadly temperatures.
Record-breaking heatwaves across much of the continent have claimed thousands of lives and created a perfect storm for destructive wildfires, as The New York Times reports.
A staggering number of these deaths, experts urge, are linked to climate change. Britain’s national weather agency, Met Office, said that of the 2,700 deaths in England and Wales believed to be the result of extreme heat so far this season — and we’re barely halfway through summer — around 42 percent were likely the result of the “human-caused” climate change.
“However, it is clear that human-caused climate change is leading to more frequent and more intense summer heatwaves,” said Mark McCarthy, Met Office’s manager of climate attribution, in a statement. “This intensification is driving many impacts, including those affecting human health and mortality and other issues, such as agriculture, effects on transport infrastructure and biodiversity.”
In addition to the thousands of deaths in England and Wales, France has estimated that roughly a thousand excess deaths and hundreds of hospitalizations were caused by extreme heat, while Germany announced last week that its unprecedented temperatures have so far been linked to about 5,100 deaths.

Britain will soon be Europe’s energy powerhouse–AEP

Cast forward five to 10 years and Britain will be the only major country in Europe with a flourishing energy system across the whole technology spectrum.
The prevailing – dated – narrative of this country as the energy sick man of Europe will be turned on its head. Britain will be able to meet its core internal needs for both power and fuel from its own territorial sources, with enough joules to spare for rising energy exports to the European market.

Huge 2025 Rise in Ecuadorian Balsa Exports to Feed Wind Turbine Demand Raises Fears of Increased Illegal Logging

The rape of the Amazon rainforest to feed an exploding global demand for wind turbine balsa wood cores could be getting worse. According to local reports, the main balsa-producing country Ecuador has seen a huge 2025 rise in exports of the vital turbine core wood from US$218 million in 2024 to US$301 million. Last March, the Daily Sceptic reported exclusively on figures that suggested half a million mature balsa trees were being illegally logged every year in Ecuador and Peru to make up for shortfalls from sustainable plantations. The massive export rise over just one year hardly suggests the illegal deforestation is easing – if anything, it is a possible sign that the situation is getting worse.

Illegal or not, it’s strange how ecos get would up about deforestation, but not when it is used to feed the maws of Drax or insatiable wind turbine demand!

The Telegraph’s Wildfire Hysteria

The Telegraph seems to be stepping up its Net Zero propaganda campaign.
Here’s the latest pile of drivel from their Economics Correspondent, who really should know better:
Antony Taylor was driving to his home on the outskirts of London when he saw a cloud of smoke billowing from a wildfire.
It was moments later that he discovered the chaos that lay ahead.
As the flames reached his home, the father of three made it just in time to grab a few photographs off the walls.
Then, standing a couple of hundred yards away, he watched as his four-bedroom family home and elderly parents’ property burnt to the ground in less than nine minutes.
“As soon as the smoke turned black and we started hearing explosions, I knew that it had gone,” says Taylor. “The whole day was just chaos. It was like something out of a war zone.”
Taylor’s property was one of 18 homes destroyed on July 19, 2022, as wildfires ravaged Wennington in the east London borough of Havering.
It was the hottest day ever recorded in Britain’s history, which led to the capital’s borders being encircled by flames.
However, this wasn’t a one-off, as households in Suffolk discovered this week when wildfires ripped across 370 acres along the coast.
The Suffolk blaze was triggered by a string of recent heatwaves across Britain, which have created the conditions for wildfires to thrive elsewhere.
Recent scenes from France, where wildfires have burned an area four times the size of Paris in the last month, feel increasingly, and alarmingly, close to home.
Inevitably, the recent summer heat that facilitated wildfires has intensified a political row about net zero.
By 2050, maximum temperatures will regularly surpass 40 degrees in many parts of the UK, according to the Climate Change Committee (CCC), a government advisory body.
Wildfires are the most visibly devastating consequence.
