Onto comics- Reviews, that is!
My out of date reviews.
Wonder Woman #36-
I enjoyed this issue, mostly because the Giganta/Diana team up is great. Wonder Woman can sit and mack with her villians about her troubles and convince them to give up dates to help her save stuff because she's just. that. COOL.
As for Tom/Diana- I'm glad to see the issue clarified. Diana courted Tom according to her culture and felt he fitted in- she wanted her culture to live on through a child.
A couple people at s_d equated this to Diana wanting to be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen which is ridiculous. Wanting to have kids- especially wanting to have kids so your culture can live on and so you can teach and mold them- does not make Wonder Woman lesser. Batman has a kid. So does Superman, sort of. It's funny that Diana's never commented on it 'till now, especially since she'd be such a great Mom and she's so nurturing and inspiring.
Kids aren't my bag personally. But Diana wanting kids so the Amazons can live on- and respecting her partner enough to compromise by having two different weddings and all that- makes sense.
What doesn't make sense is why she didn't work harder to find her fellow sisters when they had "lost their way" but whatever.
I also find the resolution to Diana interesting. Diana, from a different culture, just sort of dived in fully. Tom didn't get it. He deals in lies, she deals in truth, but she's the one who misread the situation. At any rate, the relationship's run it's course, and while I was neutral on it near the end, probably others are glad to see the back of it.
And the bad at romance thing actually makes sense to me- Wondy's been written so inconsistently she's never had really long term relationships...and she's got a different cultural perspective on things. I can buy it, and it will be interesting to see her work through it.
I just finished the Iliad, so wondering why Achilles is not constantly full of rage- and where Patroclus is. :) But he is in character by being totally dishonorable in threatening Di's Mom and bragging a lot. I loved Diana's "how nice for you" response to his declaration of greatness.
Donna Troy's appearing next ish which is great. I wonder if she'll be pissed Diana didn't choose her to pass on the Amazon way, and instead chose an outsider? Looking forward to it.

Power Girl #5
Since I've dropped Tec and New Krypton and no more Wednesday comics, I'm giving this a shot. Another cute, fun issue, nothing spectacular and too exposistion heavy at parts (does anyone else notice Palmiotti doesn't use contractions a lot? Really makes the dialogue sound a bit awkward once in a while)- but I loved the cat washing sequence, the expressive, spunky Conner art and the sheer fun irreverent playfulness and number of funny moments in the series.
Also, there was a hunky android. Beefcake!

Meanwhile, I'm excited about:
Batgirl #3 preview: Up against Scarecrow! Steph doesn't like needles but is badass and plunges it in anyway! (just like me. I can't even give blood, though I'll make myself someday). She's shuddery about Black Mask! (I smell cool confrontation in the future! Hopefully with Schadenfrude asskicking!) And Babs is WORKING with Steph, so she's giving her a chance, in her own way. Some of the angst will probably be resolved at the end of this ish!
Titles rise from the dead for Blackest night!
I'm most excited about the Suicide Squad one (Ostrander and Gail! OMG!) AND an epic meeting of the Questions by Rucka sounds awesome! The Catwoman one- well, I love Selina, hopefully Nicieza will do good by her. It could go either way. Hopefully the Shazam one will resolve some of Billy and mostly Mary's issues? And I really have to read Starman someday.
January will be a cool month.
