Turkey Bowl 2009

Okay Josie, you are going to run up the left side and cut right, when you turn around the ball will be right there. Got it?

Where's the ball dad? You said it would be there?

Bam sucka!

Guys! Guys! Huddle up. I have a plan. Robert, you run after Misty. Neil, you run after Kodiak. I will run after mom. (Actual conversation).

Blue 42! Blue 42

Yup.

Who has the ball here?

This is Robert guarding me. What else did you think he was doing?

Chloe

Many of you wanted to see a picture of my dog. Well here she is. Watch out, she is pretty ferocious.

Discovery

So last night I had one of those experiences that I have always secretly wanted to have, but never thought would happen. It actually has been a series of events that have led up to this.
1. Buy and old house.
2. Discover hardwood floor underneath the carpet. ( This could have been enough for me, but there was more)

This is what I discovered underneath the carpet in the bedroom. At first I didn't know whether I should be annoyed because they could have ruined the floor, but I was intrigued about what exactly was going on with this and wondering what year it could have been put down. My guess was the 40s.

And then the coolest thing happened when I pulled it up. I discovered that whoever layed the linoleum down also left a newspaper from their day. I seriously let out a squeal of excitement when I saw it. This has also been another dream of mine.
3. Discover an old newspaper in my old house.

In case you are wondering and can't see in this photo, it is from March 1936. Look at the headline! I have enjoyed reading through the paper and seeing what was going on then and how much things cost. I could have bought a men's polo shirt for 29 cents.

I am taking the paper to my friend who works with archivists and he will tell me how to preserve it. I am also going to frame a page of it and hang it up in the house. I figure I owe that much to history.

House

So, in case you weren't aware, I bought a house. Mom came down and helped me during my big freak out. I couldn't have done it without her. It was pretty stressful, but I am all moved in now and loving it and oh boy, do I have plans.

The house was built in 1906 and is in a really cool historic neighborhood. It is right across the street from an 80 acre park. I will blog pictures of that later. It has a huge pond and a little amusement park (not the house, the park).

These are the branches of the huge maple tree in my front yard. Sometimes I like to go and hug it. I am from Washington you know.

And of course being from Washington I had to plan a tree of my own. This is a peach tree. It was fun to dig the hole and plant it. I felt like I was leaving a legacy of sorts.

My first project was to build a raised bed and plant a garden. The bed contains makings for salsa and the pots contain herbs. I was quite proud of myself on this one.

This is the plant that mom gave me as a housewarming gift. It is a hydrangea and I found a perfect place for it in front of the house. I can not wait until it blooms.

My back porch.

Align CenterBedroom. I will add more pictures of the inside later. I will probably do before/after pictures as I make improvements.

The Great Picture Purge

Is three months between blog postings long enough? We should ask Heather. I think she has me beat with four months. Regardless, here is a random sample of pics. that I have taken over the last few months.

Okay, so maybe this is more than a few months old, but here we are going to the OSU v. Utah game. Marcey's dad Philip came with us. It was fun, up until we lost in OT.

In March I went up to Vancouver to go to Anna and Charlie's baptism. I love this picture with Anson in it.

This was at the Oregon Zoo. This is one of my favorite pictures. It makes me giggle.

When mom was down here visiting me we drove by this business. I had to stop and make her pose for a picture. Hello Pegus.

Ride 'em cowboy!

Me and g'rents.

Yup, I am trying to lick her nose.

Skypin' with Lee Ray. That was fun. I love technology!

More Long Lost Videos

This is kind of like when Disney opens up its "vault" and you get to see videos that you haven't seen forever. However, I will not charge exorbitant amounts of money for these or take them away after the "limited time" expires.
Okay, there are a lot of these. Maybe you can watch them in segments.

Segment #1- A walk with the kiddos

Segment #2- Santa Lee

Segment #3- Christmas Carols

Segment #4- Violence

Visitors

Robert, Mindy and Alestair came to visit this weekend. They came up for Mindy's sister's baby blessing and I was lucky enough to have them stay with me.

Alestair is 8 months old and is getting to be so much fun!

On Saturday night after a day of some very serious homework doing, Robert and I decided to reward ourselves with making a tasty dinner. We ended up getting enough for two meals and had a great time preparing, arranging and eating. Doesn't it look good?!!

Also on Saturday night we finally were able to Skye Lee in Japan. It was so exciting. We got see and talk to him for free. I seriously love technology. It makes having him so far away almost bearable. I have to warn you that this clip contains some crude humor.
