While I feel that every time I post on here it's another year later,

I really hope to ramp it up now! Soooooo much has happened...

Our lives have changed dramatically in the last two years. We

came back from Cali, Jared got on at Intel, I got into nursing school

at GCU, Jared started his engineering degree at ASU, I graduated,

passed the NCLEX, and got a job back in the NICU... :)

We have great things ahead of us. I'm so excited and loving my new

job as an RN! Jared does extremely well with his job, and will graduate

next summer. The world is ours and we've never been so happy!

Well, where to start? Nothing too exciting!

I have been pretty absent from the blog world for a long time now...
months and months. For anyone who happens to run across this post
-well I am supposed to be studying right now! Imagine that!?! I feel like
my life has become consumed with nothing but books, and class, and
labs, and pulling my hair out! So here's a little update on what has been going on in life...

I am on day two, of term two, of block two (how's that for two's!) in
nursing school. I realized that I never even blogged about starting! I was accepted in the Grand Canyon University College of Nursing last summer, and I started in August. I am attending (very successfully I might add) ;) their 20 month, fast track, BSN program. It was an honor to get accepted as my campus (which is in the east valley) was the most requested program, with the highest cumulative GPA. I never thought I'd make the cut, but I did! Hard work does pay off, take it from me! I sure miss NICU, but I
know leaving for school will be worth it! I have made some AMAZING friends! I am almost half way done & it's been beautifully difficult!

I have had my highest of highs and some lows so far, but overall- I love it. Clinicals are a blast & I make my way through the day with lots of humor and a light heart. I swear I could do a stand up routine on the

things I encounter at clinicals, hilarious!

I am in this challenging program full-time, and Jared is working at Intel, and going to ASU. God bless my husband who supports us, and has so much motivation to still pursue his continuing education as well. He's amazing! We are a crazy household sometimes, and if we had kids to
add to the mix right now... Heaven help us! I truly admire you who have

children while pursuing these kind of dreams.We make the best of it,
and our precious time when we can do "nothing" (more like grocery shopping, yard work, cleaning, etc.) together! We find value in even these little things now! We try to keep life from being just "boring in the books" right now. And THAT is my update! LOL, told ya nothing exciting!

It's true... I am a bad Auntie! I don't know what I was thinking... OK, let's be real- things have been a little/lot crazy for the last little while in life (what else is new!) and I have yet to post about my newest nephew. How could I let this happen?!!!? He's already 3 months old! Which is why I fail big time right now. I am not always the best at keeping up on this dang blog- and I thought no one really cared until I get FB messages & e-mails asking where I went... Thanks for that- I feel loved.

ANYWAY! On to more important stuff... So on a Tuesday, March 27th, 2012 at 8:42 am, Beau David Bawden entered the world. Weighing 7-lbs 1-oz, and 21-inches long. It was an easy delivery for Chelsea, and Beau is such a happy, sweet, smiley boy. We love him so much, and love to munch on his chubby legs even more! His last appointment at three months had him weighing in at 12-lbs & he's already in 6 month clothing! He is a super chunky little buddha boy. He's freakin' adorable!

Colin...AZ to AFRICA!

I have had two months to contemplate writing this

post. But tonight, I'm going to do it. This subject is

very tender to me... You see, this is my "Fuz",

or better known as my baby brother Colin Jay.

This is a recent picture of the two of us from last Fall.

Colin and I have a very special bond. He is one

person in my life who has always loved me totally

and completely unconditionally. He has been there

for me when others have not. We are literally the

"call at 2 am" siblings, many times- each of us. Colin is one of

the best men I have ever known in my life. We have always

been close. Some of my fondest memories are going

in to get his little fuzzy head out of his crib in the

morning :) Hence his nickname "Fuz".

This is one of Colin's missionary pictures (courtesy

of the lovely Victoria Sorenson )!!! He has

chosen to go on a mission for the LDS church. He

was called to serve in the Maputo, Mozambique

mission in AFRICA. This was was dream for Colin

since he was a young kiddo. He always wanted to go

there, and it was so unique for him to get called there

since that is unheard of to go to the number one place

in the whole world that you want to go. He has since

learned that he will serving his mission in Luanda, Angola.

This is in his designated mission, but is actually on the

opposite side of Africa. He is SOOOO excited!

I give you... Elder Colin Jay Montgomery

Here is the hard part... He has been gone in Utah for the

last two months learning Portuguese, which he will be speaking

in Africa. BUT, this Monday he starts what will be a 48 hour

trip to Luanda. Salt Lake to Dallas, Dallas to London,

London to Johannesburg-South Africa, then finally on

to Luanda-Angola.

This is my last picture with him for two whole years. Can you

tell how hard it was to smile? We'd been bawling our eyes

out about 3 minutes before this picture.

We only get to e-mail with Colin, which is really hard since

when Greg was in Idaho we could write, send packages,

get texts from members of pictures of him right that moment.

Things with Colin will be much different. Angola has NO

postal service. UPS, FedEX, and DSL are iffy at best!

So e-mail once a week it will be. He also can only call home

on Christmas & Mother's Day. SO HARD!!!!

Lucky for us he can call from the airport on Monday, so

we are having a phone party for the last time until Christmas.

(Pause as I hold my tears.....)

This is the paper chain we made as a family. One link gets to

come off each Sunday at Family Dinner. There are way

too many links in that chain for me to handle right now!

This is Colin & his ADORABLE girlfriend Tori! We just

love her to pieces! She and I are bonding and keeping

each other sane through this process! We have kept

ourselves busy sending him care packages & stuff,

but now that we can't we'll have to really keep our

chins up! (Sorry Tor- I ♥ this pic!!!)

We try to spend our time laughing, talking about Colin,

and spending lots of time at all the local fro-yo joints! ;)

So that's the deal... Wow, only broke down once!

It's hard, but I know he is where he wants to be

so I rely on that to get us through! BUT, I'd be

lying if I told you that I didn't know that it's exactly

22 months and 5 days until he comes home! ;)

Lil' update...

Well, I have no idea how many people even read this thing but every once in a while I get someone asking if I still blog. I do, I guess- just life gets in the way and I don't do it often! So here is a quick re-cap of some of the things that have been happening in our lives lately...

Christmas was great & we got Montgomery family pictures taken for the first time in like 12 years!

Colin got his mission call and leaves ~~May 9th, just kidding (they moved it up!)~~ APRIL 18th!!
He is going to Maputo, Mozambique in Africa. He is BEYOND excited as this is where he has wanted to go since Chelsea got home from her CFL trip in 2003.

Graham turned THREE on January 5th, and Claire turned ONE on January 8th! They are two of the cutest kids in the world & bring so much joy & love to our lives.

Graham loves: everything & anything guns, the iPhone!!!!!!, the movie Kung fu Panda, telling you anything new he's learned about, playing hide & seek, pre-school, and playing buzz-lightyear!

Claire loves: being a ham!, trying to pretend she can't walk yet ;), bouncing on the exercise ball with Auntie Eggy (my nickname as they can't say Meggy), singing herself to sleep, all kinds of food, her baby dolls, laughing, and climbing the stairs.

Christmas also found our family with another big surprise! Amanda & Tony gave us this:

An ornament that had me screaming (for joy) when I read it! They have an adorable pup named Ray, and this ornament for Christmas says "Merry Christmas Auntie & Uncle" "Tony, Amanda, Ray, Baby" I saw it instantly & totally flipped! It was a fun creative way to find out. SO, not only are we now planning for the baby due Aug 13th, but their wedding as well on Nov 9th....Whew! I got my work cut out as MOH!

We are all SUPER excited for the first Brown grand baby- especially Alex! Congrats Tony & Amanda!

March will find Chelsea having #3 in their brood, it's going to be a wild ride. Graham & Claire will get to spend lots more time with me since school isn't so killer this semester & I'm pretty excited. :) We are all looking forward to the new Bawden BOY!

Mom & Dad are having their 30th wedding anniversary on Feb 13th! I am so excited for them!

We had a tragedy in the Brown family this last week. Mike's brother, our Uncle Kevin passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He's the first member of the family to pass, and leaves only his daughter Kendra behind. It's been really tough on the family, and it was even worse that due to school obligations Jared & I were not able to travel to the Bay area to be with family for the services on Monday. We are all just somber over it, and trying to make sense of it all. Kevin was only 52, and though he'd had some health issues- no one could have imagined this happening. We've had an overwhelming response from family, friends, and the community & it's touching to see how loved "Cool Kev" is. RIP Uncle Kevin

As for us:

Jared & I have been trying to just stay healthy! We have been serial sickies since Christmas break & we are back to school and ready to be back to health! Jared's had the flu, I've had pneumonia, we've both had the coughs, sneezes, hacks, snots, what-have-you! (Sorry, TMI??) LOL

I am on my last semester before my program starts at GCU in the fall, and I am SUPER ready & excited for that! Jared is steadily working on his Bachelors in Chemistry and doing awesome! He's superman if you ask me, full-time job, full-time school, straight A's & still happy! :) Life is good.

Crazy, busy, insane, chaotic, whirlwind MONTH!...

So I may have unintentionally lied...

I promised that I would blog more often.

I really meant to do it! However, this past month

has been crazy, busy, insane, chaotic, and a whirlwind!

We BOTH started full-time school, Jared's also

working full time. My sister-in-law got engaged, we

went on a family vacation, finally moved out of Jared's

parents house (they rock- but it was time!), got into a

new house, sent my baby brother off to college, had

my jeep blow up on us, bought a new car, studied

our butts off for first tests this week, and any spare

moments have been filled with crafts/projects. Whew!

I tell you what, I'm ready to have time to really

decorate, and then have some DOWN time!

I am taking a REALLY hard & full load this

semester, so I don't exactly think I'll have much

of a break. So, I'll be here when I can.

I am excited for the next time I'll have some

time to really blog. I've been working on a bunch

of projects here & there on the house. CUTE things

to be shown soon! :) Happy week everyone!

We all grow up...

My little brothers...

We all grow up... Maybe not always acting as adults,

but adulthood happens just the same. The older I get

the more unwilling to accept this fact I become. I still

feel like I'm little. I also still feel like the big sister who

went to get Colin out of his crib every morning. Opening

his bedroom door seeing his little "fuzzy" head, and

he's reaching out to me... Literally like it was yesterday.

I don't know how old I'll have to get until I actually FEEL

like and adult (hopefully never!). BUT, this week I'm feeling

it a little more than usual. You see, Colin is going away to

his first semester at college... in Utah. He chose to go to

BYU and it's a little crazy for me. I can't believe my baby

brother is going off to college. AND, we are extremely close

so I'm having a hard time with it. I knew when he graduated it

would only be a matter of time. But it's not any easier!

He'll have a semester there and then come home

to prepare for his mission, where he'll leave for two

years! I'm not ready to face that yet!

So while we face that separation, we are welcome a reunion.

Greg will be returning home from his mission on Sept. 22!

He's been gone for two whole years, and though we missed

him terribly... Looking back it went by in a flash!

I'm really hoping the same will happen with Colin. I'm sure

ready to have all of my family back together. I'm ready for

times like these again...

I'm in the middle of college, Colin's going away to

college, Greg's coming home to start the rest of his life,

Chelsea is married & prego with #3! Time keeps passing

and we just... keep growing up.

We all grow up, whether we want to or not. I am sure

going to miss everyone as along as we aren't all together.

I guess that's how life goes.

So for now, I'll just enjoy the time I have...

I'm off to go help Colin pack, and paint his room...

This last weekend we traveled back to

our lovely San Diego for a fabulous event.

My beautiful sister-in-law Amanda got

engaged to her awesome boyfriend Tony.

Tony is in the Navy and had a re-enlistment

ceremony going on. He took this opportunity

to trick her into thinking it was a really

important occasion. We were all in on it, and

props to Tony, as it went off without a hitch!

He took time to thank us all for coming and

had her come to the front, she had no idea

it was coming until he reached in his pocket

and pulled out the ring! It was so awesome!

Wells I am going to do an unusual post.... Nothing much to report right now, not a happy post, kinda vague, and no pictures. What a drag huh? I know. All I can really say is we are going through a hard time (Not our marriage so don't worry! Don't need any rumors started!) but just trying to deal with some of the twists and turns of life. I don't feel comfortable putting all the details out there for the universe to see right now. We are trying to stay hopeful and hanging in there, but could sure use some good thoughts and extra prayers if you can spare.

It brings me joy...

It has been fun since moving to San Diego to

explore the city and all of the great things it offers.

I recently visited Balboa Park. I was mistaken to

think when we moved there that is was "just a park".

Au-contraire! It is an amazing place with the most

beautifully constructed buildings, and a plethora

of unique museums, and gardens I could spend

all day long just wandering. It is a truly unique

place that I am SO glad to have found.

My most recent trip was spent in the San Diego

Art Museum. Which features art from local artists

but also traveling pieces on loan from the great

galleries and museums of the world.

There is something about art... It is second in my

heart to music. They both speak to my soul.

There is something about staring at a canvas

that a great artist painted hundreds of years ago,

observing to brush strokes, the lines, the

technique. I find myself imagining where

they were when they painted it... Why did

they pick that image, or place... How many

hours did it take to complete... Were they

happy with the finished product...

I have a deep love for it so when I get

to see the great works of my favorite

artists, the great masters- it brings me joy.

I got to see these originals:

Matisse "The Bouquet"

Toulouse-Lautrec "The Millner Rene Vert"

Fatin-Latour "Peonies, Roses, and Carnations"

Dali "Spector of the evening"

Warhol "Self Portrait"

Monet "The River Eure"

I already fulfilled one of my lifetime wishes

when I saw Monet's Water Lilies original at

the J.P. Getty Museum in high school. One

day I'll get to the Louvre in Paris! Until then

I'm glad to have found a local place where I

can get a steady glimpse of the great works

I admire so very much!

My "lil" bro...

This is my younger brother Greg or "Bubba"

as we call him...Or, Elder Montgomery

as he is known right now. I say younger because I

am a total shorty and he's been bigger than me since

he was like 12 so I can't say little brother...

Today he turns 20, which I have to admit makes

me feel RIDICULOUSLY OLD! But, I'm not going

to focus on that- instead I'll tease HIM that HE'S no

longer in HIS "teens" & how old HE'S getting! ;)

Today is his birthday, and while I wish I was

home to get a big bear hug from him, I couldn't

if I wanted to. He is on a mission for the LDS

church. He is in Idaho for just over one more

year- he's already been gone for a year this 09/16.

It's really weird to have him gone, and even though

time seems to fly by, I feel the distance and I feel

how long it's been since I got to hug him. There is no

better "hugger" in the world than this guy. I miss him!

BUT, I know that he is doing something he believes in

wholeheartedly and I am glad he is so happy, and being

treated well by the people who are around him up there.

Greg- I hope someone makes you a cake, and gives you

a great big hug today. You are the best & I hope that

you can feel as special and loved up there today

as you would if you were home with us!

Pups 1st Beach Trip...

We have been breaking the girls in to Cali

life one step at a time. We know that
this new life has come as quite a shock to

them. Going from a big house, a huge

grassy backyard, the freedom to roam as

they will- to a small apartment with a patio

& having to go out on potty breaks... It seems

like it would be hard! However, being dogs

they do seem to forgive us easily, and we haven't

had any accidents! They aren't used to a lot of

other dogs so that has been an adjustment too,

because EVERYONE has a dog here!

SO, the day finally came last week & they got

intoduced to THE BEACH! We wanted to time it with

their bath day because a dog on the beach is a mess!

They LOVED the sand, but the water & waves

kind of freaked them out at first. Bailey would

run from the incoming surf, it was hilarious!

"Nesting" Baby Shower...

This last weekend I was very thankful

to be able to help throw a baby shower

for one of my BFF's Chelsee (Worsley) Hunt.

Before I post anymore pictures I have to

tell you why this girl, and this baby are so

special to me... Chelsee and I have been

friends since high school, and she is

one of those people who is every bit as

genuine and kind, as she is beautiful.

We can go for what seems the longest

periods of time without talking (though

we both hate when life is that busy) but

the second we connect again it's as though

no time passed at all. We can call on each

other for anything, and have proven time

and time again that if we need our girls,

we are there at the drop of a hat!

With having such an amazing friend, it

has been hard to watch Chelsee as she's

battled a painful 5 years of infertility.

With many prayers, lots of hope, and

unwavering faith- it finally happened!

You can't bottle joy, like that of the night

we girls gathered at Pita Jungle & received

the good news..."...I'm Pregnant!!!!!!"

Chelsee, I've seen this journey coming full

circle for you & I can't quite put into words

the joy in my heart as I watch you- someone

with such divine maternal instinct, finally

becoming what you are so meant to be.

I love you so much, and I am beyond

ecstatic for you and Ben! Baby Braydon

will be one of the luckiest, and most loved

little boys the world over. Congratulations!

The shower was held at the amazing Worsley

residence. It was a VERY quick trip for me,

but there wasn't any place I'd rather be! We

had a good old fashion slumber party, which

we are NEVER too old for, and then the days

festivities began. The theme was nesting, and

it was a beautiful day!

We made cinnamon rolls for "bun in the oven"

take home favors...

We used nests & apothecary jars as

decor pieces...

We served salads, and every kind of fresh

fruit you can think of...

We had a "fancy cheese" table- oh Brie,

it was delicious!...

Not all of the desserts were out yet,

but the table was beautiful with Christy's

amazing silver punch bowls...

I made some cards and put together a little

table for "new mommy advice"...

Our favorite friendships!!! We missed

ordered up special from Auntie Meg :)

We tried to go to the zoo, but underestimated the parking

situation on a Satuday, so we settled for Mission Bay Park.

It worked out well because Graham loved all the airplanes!

I got in some last minute cuddle time before they

left for the drive home. :(

All in all we had a fabulous time & I was sad to see them go.

But we always have next time & Skype!

Gearing up for the big move....

Well the time is fast approaching for us to make our big

move... We found a place in beautiful sunny La Jolla!

The official moving date is July 12th, and frankly...

we are starting to get excited!

Here is what part of our new life in LJ will consist of:

We are excited to live by the beach....

And kayak the caves...

And learn to catch a good wave!

And share the neighborhood with this roudy bunch...

And have coffee with the locals...

I'd like to tell you this was our new home....

Or that we were living in this little beauty!

But alas! As nice as it will be to have all those things-

I must confess... I will be studying away!

Not quite as excited about that as the beach,

but you won't find me complaining! ☺

We found a little apartment in a very nice area of La Jolla.

It might be small, but it will be home- and we will

make the best of it no matter what!

(Plus... I can always study at the beach!)

Big News!!!...

Sorry to burst any bubbles, I'm not pregnant...

I get asked about that a lot-(not until school is done!)

BUT...

Jared and I are about to embark on the

biggest journey of our lives thus far... We have been

making plans and trying to get things in order for the

next big phase of life- nursing school! I have been

working as a CNA for a couple years now, and

the time has come to get down to business. We

have wanted a new adventure, and we are getting it!

Jared has accepted a job, and I will be going to school

full time for my BSN in...

I know right!...

I figure there are worse places to live, so even though

I am sad to not be down the street from friends and

family, we won't be too far(mom!)!

Plus now you'll have a place to crash at the beach :)

ETA- Last week of June!! SD here we come!!!
