Good review. It’s fun, bloody, and in-your-face, but it still felt like something was missing in the action-department at the end. I don’t know what it was, but something could have been a lot crazier about this material I feel like.

Maybe in the beginning. But I feel like the paranoia in the latter half of the movie capped with the ending ("egg noodles and ketchup" expresses the sentiment) leaves a pretty bleak impression.

I read this movie in a totally different way, truthfully. Sure there are dark times in the movie... but for the most part, this is a feel-good movie to me (despite all the neck stabbing involved).

Everything is given the tint of Henry Hill's perspective, or Karen's perspective. There are narrative doubts expressed, but on the whole, the narrators allow you to see all the positives of a life of (organized) crime. The camaraderie, the financial benefit, the respect/fear from others, the feeling of power, and the rush of it all is played up time and again.

Sorry to be such a naysayer, but I just had to give my two cents.
