Eh I mean miniaturing or what ever you would like to call it!
I've been making some real progress on my architect loft.
So far I've finished my bed, entertainment system and drawing table(well finished.... They all need a coat of paint or two but the structure is there!) some how with power tools I'm a mess though.. I was half way trough sawing my two windows when my one and only saw broke! I've order new ones but they can take up to two weeks before they get here. So in the mean time I've been concentrating on something I know how to do.... Gluing!!!! Whom ever invented glue I'm a huge fan. yesterday I had a day of so I painted every thing an even coat of colour so here's what everything looks like!

I'm still working on my bathroom an my sofa, And my book cabinet is going to be the hardest to make its a very hard design. Plus I also have to work on my kitchen. So little time so much to do!

I hope I can get everything finished in time how is everybody else doing? I cant wait to see what everybody makes from it!

What A Year!

Hello everyone!

As my title may say A little bit about this post my year has not really started great!
I'm not sure if I’ve ever told you. But my real life day to day work is with a childcare organization.
Over the past few months our government has decided to really cut back on the help and support for parents in the child care system. And because of that a lot of our parents can’t afford child care anymore. Causing our centers to go empty and losing even more parents because they have lost there jobs! Needles to say that our centers have to deal with the blow to! Earlier in 2013 my work hours got reduced with five hours less every weak. And in January I heard that there taking another five hours away from me! Causing me to not have enough money to pay fir my home and bills. So I went searching for an extra job on the side witch is not that easy, but I found a few. Causing me to work four jobs now in order to pay my bills. I don’t have to tell you that I don’t have a lot of spare time left to spend on my minis and the time that I do have I’m usually to tired to do anything and I use that time to spend with my dog (yes I bought my own dog before this whole drama started) her name is Loortje (short from Dolores) and she’s a real cutie.

Lately I’ve been able to do a few miniature things and she seems to be quite curios to see what I am doing and after thutalli sniffing every item I hold she settles down and go's to sleep. I also owe a huge apology to Kristine over ar papperdollminiatures for I still havend been able to send her her winnings from my contest. To make it up to you Kristine I’ve added a few items extra and as soon as my paycheck arrives it will be on its watt to you! I promise! In the time I’ve been giving myself I’ve been working on a few items if my loft of witch I’m hopping I’ll still be able to finish even though I have so much to do! I've also found some wood print sticker at a local arts and craft store and I’ve used it to cover my yellow IKEA furniture planks. Here's what it looks like!

I’ve also been working on a few swap items because I still had one planned with Megan. And I want to make it right! And something you will actually be happy with. Also I’ve been looking for a way to make a cornered sofa because buying one is out if the question now! Anyone got any idea's let me know. Well that’s it for now I need to walk my dog and get ready for job one and two today.

undersized urbanite dollhouse contest!

Undersized Urbanite contest.

Ok so I've decided to enter again this year but this time I've decided to enter with an entire house
I'm planning on making it really masculine this time and considering my 17 year old cousin decided that dollhouses are for kids only I decided I'm going to prove him wrong. He is studying to be an architect and his taste is very modern (like mine)So I figured why not combine the two and make an architect loft! This lady at my work gave me the perfect base to start with and it's going to be very sleek with lots of white grey and wood items.

Here's the base where I'm going to make the loft from:

Also we went to this small dollhouse fair here in Holland a few

weeks back and I bought some items that are definitely going to be in there:

A kit for some document folders

A very cool vitrine closet

Some leather for the sofa!

A pringels can

A modern vase

Two Glass jars

Three suitcases

A black plate

Some architect drawing tools!

And a cupcake

I've also made a concrete coffee table:

Well that was all I've done so far lets get back to building our house!

Changing the date!

Hi everyone I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm moving the date of my challenge the first time the end was today(september 19th). Until I realised that its on a thursday?! I’ve been creative!

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to let you know that despite my absence in blogging I have been busy.
Besides officially moving In, in my own house(jay!!)
I’ve also been making a few things such as these:

A bath tub!

A TV:

I've made it out of an old picture frame:
you can place it on the stand with the bottom foot.

only I've decided to not make the pipe go all the way through because that would take away from the space on the shelves

Changing up the bedroom

Oke everyone it’s time to change up my bedroom scene As I’ve told you before I like changing up things from time to time this time it was the bedrooms turn here’s how it looked before:

The girl who lives here is a young adolescent who is absolutely obsessed with the twilight book series! As you can see she has the entire series on her shelf.

She’s a great fan of music and knows how to play the guitar.

And she’s currently going to school to learn to be a nail artist. She has been practicing on her manicure hand and is now read to try a design on her own nails.

But first she wants’ something to drink.

Oke so here is my (very late) entry to the second annual modern minis contest, I always think of a back story to what the owner of the house is doing and when I was putting this scene together the story just came to me. The owner of this pad ! is a lady and she just came home from a big shopping spree. Now we all know that most women love to shop even if they have no good reason. But this lady did! You see all of her mail has been left unopened because she found a letter in the mailbox that was way more important. She’s got an invite to a high school reunion. She’s so excited to see everyone again. And of course she has to look her best ! is the high school hottie still hot? Watt ever became of that tall nerdy kid did he really become a millionaire? And how many of her former friends have gotten kids now?
After she went shopping she sat down on her comfy sofa with a hot cup of coffee and some old photo’s from way back when… she was so skinny there.. Hmm maybe she should save that piece of freshly baked pie for after the reunion…..

No I'm not dead!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m still alive even though my last post was some time ago. luckily I’ve noticed that in blog world I’m not the only one that gets exhausted from the real world! But just because I haven’t blogged doesn’t mean I haven’t done any miniature things!

First of all I’ve been working on my skills to make larger thing for my miniatures thing such as tables, Book shelf’s and making MitchyMooMiniatures sofa some of these things are for a swap and others are for my minismodernas

contest. Witch I will show you guys a scene for later!

On another note I’ve also been working on making some miniature books and miniature printies in a wide range of items you can see some of them in the pictures below!

I’m also working on my own house that I want to build from scrap I’d really like it to have lots of ‘’glass’’ including a glass door but I’m still struggling on how to cut the Plexiglas on a good way.

And how to make a modern style door considering I can’t but those anywhere!It’s going to be a one bedroom loft inspired by the beautiful piece that Phillip Nuveen made as well as shown on:

And last but not least I’m working on my very one scene contest! But more on that later to come.. any way I’ve got lots more to do and a whole lot less time to do it so I’ll best be working on that some more

Undersized Urbanite Dollhouse Contest Part One the Kitchen.

Ok So let’s get started with part one of my entry for the Undersized Urbanite Dollhouse Contest.

Considering I don’t have the budget to make a new doll house.. if decided to change my current one. I’m the kind of person that likes to move around het furniture and change the style of her 1:1 rooms as well. So after looking at this dollhouse for a Year now it’s time to start spring cleaning! Big time! April is the month of cleaning up an looking at thing you want to keep an stuff you want to throw away. Because on the 30^th of April. It’s queens day (as of 2014 kings day, our queen is resigning this year.) And on this day there are market stalls everywhere and people get to sell the old items and make someone else happy with it! Considering the inhibitors of my dollhouse are also Dutch, they are also entering this tradition. And now that they have gotten there beautiful new kitchen in place(made by the very talented Mini Mod Pod incorporated) This is where they start.

First of placing all of the kitchen utensils in the cabinets.

Then placing all of the appliances and plug them in to the electricity!

Placing grandma’s cooking book on the counter.

Making a new place for the dog bowls they also need to eat don’t they?

And now its shopping time. Time for some groceries and some plant’s to bring a bit of life to the room.

Don’t forget to bring the toilet rolls up to the bath room now!

And viola the kitchen is finished and ready for some serous dinner party’s.

But wait someone needs to take out the trash!!

It's here!!!

It’s finally here! My swap with Cyd from mad for mod and the kitchen she has made form me!
I’m so excited because I wanted to use the kitchen in my entry for the Undersized Urbanite Dollhouse Contest. Considering I just don’t have the money/ the time to make a new dollhouse right now. I wanted to change the look of my current dollhouse! I already started with the bedroom /bathroom.
And now I can get started on the kitchen area. The kitchen is simply stunning! And it fits perfectly in my house. Of course I didn’t follow the rule to wait and open one package per day I was simply to exited so I open’ t them and here are the pieces individually:

She even made sure I got some pottery and pans.

Oke so I haven’t been on blogger for some time now and mostly that was because I was on our annual winter sport vacation with the fam. it was great fun and I even got to ride y one dog sled! witch was an amazing experience. Unfortunately when we were traveling back home our oldest dog died in the car with us.. she had a weak hart for quite some time now but it’s still a big los.. and I was quite devastated. She was the most easiest dog you could have and I’m glad to say that she got to see a lot of the world considering she always came with us on our holiday’s. She will be missed every single day!

Happy valentine’s day everyone!

So Mini*Aesthetics was organizing a challenge:

Design a scene around some holiday or observance in February (Valentine's Day, Wear Red for Women, Chinese New Year)

And here’s what I came up with!

Our lady of the house is being surprised bij her man!

When she enters the door there’s a trail of rose leafs and candles that she, according to the note must follow.

On the end of the trail she finds two roses for her. Two cocktails and a heart made out of rose petals.

In the sitting area her love put two heart shaped pastries and some hot coffee

Isn’t that a sweat gesture who know what ells he might be planning maybe a marriage proposal..? or something else let your imagination run wild what do you think that will happen here tonight?

making the garden part 2

Finishing the garden. Today I’ve glued the last remaining items to my garden. The pergola is standing up and is covert with the plants... and the stone patio is on its place! Here is the result:

I’ve also added some of the plants however; I decided to leave the Roses out because I didn’t like the colors with the blue flowers. So instead I’ve made a big standing Garden piece with some more green in it.

Placing the furniture and some animals that like to hide in gardens.

And a new dog (second hand find for 0.50 cents!) that I’m going to paint as our own.

The white big vase is actually a secondhand find to! I’m planning on making some big bamboo sticks to go in there but I’m not entirely sure how I’m going to accomplice that.

I’ve placed some drinks and food on the table to make it look like some is actually sitting in the garden.

And the bike shows that the owner has just gotten back from grocery shopping. I like my dollhouses to have a '' Lived in look'' to them to make it even more realistic.

Overall I’m very pleased with the way it looks.

Kitchen ooh kitchen..

I’ve been drooling over the beautiful kitchens they have for dollhouses.
Such as these from elf miniatures:

And these from prd miniatures and minismodernas:

unfortunately I’m on a very tight budget when it comes to miniatures right now (close to nothing) because I need to spend all of my money for my real 1:1 size house (I’m moving on my own!! Wohoo) since I’m a long way from finishing that! I’m annoyed that my doll house isn’t finished jet and therefore cannot take it’s rightful place in my room! The only room I still have to finish is the kitchen/ dining room. But somehow finding a modern kitchen in Holland is close to impossible! So I’ve been looking for other sites and I found the kitchens shown above! But the prices are just too much right now so I’ve been trying to figure out a way to get a modern style kitchen for a smaller budget but that would still be a hard task.

So I’m shouting out to you guys for help!

HHHEEEEEELLLLLPPPP!!!!!

Do you guys have any idea how I can maybe make my own kitchen and what materials etc. I would need? I’m not a star with power tools (plus my dad won’t let me borrow them)
Or do you maybe know someone who has made one themselves and who would like to share how they did it? Do a tutorial about this!

I really hope you guys can help me out !

My holiday swap items

My holiday swap:

Ok so due to mega lack of time I wasn’t able to upload what amazing things Pepper(from michymoominiatures) has given me in our holiday swap! So it’s about time that I do that now!
( I apologize in advance if the pictures are bad, but my camera’s flash broke! GRRR)
The swap had some rules to it. They were:

Each swap has to contain six items.

Nr. 1: one of the items must be something big! Like for instance furniture...
Nr.2: the second item has to be an accessory. What kind is totally up to you
Nr.3: the third item has to be something for a dollhouse Christmas…
Nr 4: the fourth item has to be something that’s related to the room I’ve picked out of the hat for you.
Nr. 5: the fifth item has to be something you’ve made your self. This can be whatever you can think of!
And Nr 6: is a surprise item.

Luckily for me I got my package one day before I went on vacation so not opening until Christmas was very easy!
The room I had draw for us was the bathroom!

And here is what I’ve got:

Nr. 1: A chair with pillow

Nr.2: Some picture frames ,And two vases

Nr.3: A clear acrylic Christmas tree

Nr 4: A bathroom sink with opening drawers and cabinets!

Nr. 5: A miniature prestige saw

And Nr 6: A little plushy elephant

Unfortunately the Christmas tree got damaged during transport but I’m hoping some glue can fix that!

Any way I’m very happy with my beautiful items I hope the others are too!

This is why I love the holidays with my parents so much!

A beautiful Christmas three on one end:

(Somehow I can’t get this picture strait up! grrr)

And an entire Christmas village on the other and somehow every year it seems to get bigger! I know its not really dollhouse related but it’s still miniature and I just wanted to show you guys!

I love the amount of detail it has, like the guy with the face palm after his friend drops face down in the snow!

I know some of the pictures just don’t do it justice but it looks the prettiest at night so the pictures are a little dark!

The village has all sorts of markets and people shopping

but also skiers.....

And even a snowball fight!:

If only life was that easy!

finishing the garden and making my dolhouse christmas ready!

Second hand finds!

Today i've gone to the second hand store and I was verry pleased with what I found. Some ikea dollhouse furniture. The best part is that it only cost me €2.50 i'm loving it! Im goin to revovate them and use them in the new dolhouse contest. More on that later on!
