Déjenme presentarles a mi pequeño duendecillo. Se llama Elena, y desde que la conozco, creo que ha traído magia a mi vida.

Elena es muy especial, es una de esas criaturas que siempre te hacen sonreír sin importar lo graves que sean los problemas. Tiene la cabeza en las nubes, los ojos llenos de luz y una voz prodigiosa que parece pertenecer a un espíritu muchísimo más antiguo.

Cuando sea muy, muy famosa y mire atrás, espero que nunca olvide los buenos ratos que pasamos juntas, horas plagadas de risas y números. Adelante bichito, el mundo es tuyo!

Let me introduce you to my elfin Elena, who has brought magic into my life. She's one of these rare creatures that make people smile no matter how daunting their problems are. She has her head in the clouds, her eyes full of light and a prodigious voice more suited to a much, much older spirit.

A veces echo de menos tener quince años, sobre todo cuando observo con sana envidia que todo lo que Cynthia tiene que hacer para estar lista es ponerse un poco de brillo en los labios y una de nuestras coronitas.

Claro que en seguida recuerdo mis angustias mentales a los quince años, lo confundida que estaba y lo difícil que se me hacían algunas cosas, y me alegro de tener la edad que tengo, de haber aprendido tanto y de descubrir que aquellas cosas que tanto odiaba y tanto me acomplejaban a los quince años son precisamente las que ahora me hacen diferente y única.

Aunque George Bernard Shaw dijo que "La juventud es la única enfermedad que se cura con los años", en mi opinión lo que nos mantiene jóvenes no es la tersura de nuestra piel, sino el brillo de nuestros ojos interesados al observar el mundo, y eso es algo que siempre podemos mantener sin importar el paso de los años...

Oh, to be fifteen again! How I long for those sweet, sweet times when everything you had to do to be ready for going out was to put on some lip gloss and a delicate headband!

I watch Cynthia and remember how lost I was at her age, how confused, how hard it was for me to make sense of my reactions and feelings. And how I hated some parts of myself; parts that now, ironically, I love fiercely because they are the ones that make me different and unique.

George Bernard Shaw said once that Youth Is Wasted In The Young. In some way, I agree with his words. But for me, youth doesn't reside only in a terse skin, but also in the shine of your interested eyes while you watch life going by. That has nothing to do with age, and striving in keeping that ability intact, I'm sure we can extend our youth for years and years...

Sólo podemos dar las gracias. Gracias a los organizadores por cuidar cada detalle de este evento, gracias a los compañeros de stand que hicieron la experiencia inolvidable y sobre todo gracias al publico asistente por convertir la segunda convocatoria del Gran Canaria Fashion&Friends en un éxito de esta magnitud.

We can only be grateful. A big Thank You goes to the Management, for taking care of every little detail. Another one goes to the stands around us, for turning the experience into a wonderful adventure, and above them all, the most ginormous Thank You goes to the public in assistance, for turning the second edition of Gran Canaria Fashion&Friends into such a big success.

La fortuna nos sonrió e hizo que La Volvoretta pudiera compartir zona con propuestas interesantísimas como los compañeros de Chok Dee Shop, con los maravillosos corsets de Martinita C, las increíbles creaciones de Alice Nice, o las elegantes fotos de la fotógrafa Saray Pérez, que derrocha talento y sensibilidad. Contamos además con el constante aroma a albahaca y fruta fresca de La Zanahoria, una verdadera delicia. Y por supuesto que no nos hemos olvidado de las delicadas piezas de 3 por ti, joyería artesanal hecha a mano por Jennifer, Julia y Nayra, piezas exquisitas y mimadas al detalle.

¡Había tanto que ver y tan poco tiempo! Ojalá hubiéramos tenido más cerca a Mi China Linda, De Hado's, Javier Ribera o Chocolate Creative. Me consuelo con los preciosos pañuelos de Ana Seco, que son una maravilla, pero no pierdo la esperanza de que tal vez, en futuras ediciones, nos toque más cerquita...

Sin duda, conocer a tantos nuevos creadores y nutrirse de su energía es, junto al contacto directo con el público, lo mejor de encuentros de este tipo.

Goddess Fortune smiled on us, and she allowed La Volvoretta to share space with wonderful artists and entrepreneurs, each one of them so talented and inspirational is not even funny. We were ecstatic we got to share space with Martinita C, Alice Nice, Chok Dee Shop, La Zanahoria or the lovely and gorgeous Saray Perez, who takes the most adorable kids pictures ever. No, we didn't forget Tres por Ti, the exquisite work of Jennifer, Julia and Nayra. Their pieces are so elegant and classy, a real joy to the senses!

We wish we could spend more time with Javier Ribera, De Hado's, Mi China Linda or Chocolate Creative, but alas! Such is life, too much to see, too little time! We cross our fingers and hope next time we'll be closer to Ana Seco and her gorgeous, gorgeous silk scarves...

Without doubt, meeting so many artists and feeding off from their energy is, next to meeting our clients, the best thing about this kind of events.

El público de La Volvoretta es femenino casi en su totalidad, y en esta ocasión tuvimos la oportunidad de comprobar lo bien que sientan nuestras piezas en muchos tipos diferentes de mujeres. Gracias a nuestras clientas por confiar en nosotras, y gracias por dejarnos plasmar aquí lo preciosas que están con nuestros productos.

La Volvoretta's clientele is almost in its entirety, female, and this time around we had the chance to test how well suited our pieces are to every type of woman. Thanks to all our clients for trusting us with the work of making them look gorgeous!

Así que de nuevo, muchas gracias. Ha sido genial poder compartir estos días con ustedes. We wanted a flower that reflected all her delicacy and grace, and that's why we chose all those hues of pink for her flower, from the elegance of pale pink to the vivacity of fuchsia.

Nos dijeron que Belén era todo temperamento, todo fuerza, con una personalidad arrolladora y una actitud maravillosa. Así que cuando llegó el momento de buscar los colores que la definieran, pensamos que la vitalidad del naranja, la feminidad del violeta y la calidez del amarillo serían perfectos para ella.

We were told that Belén has a passionate nature, that she's a very charismatic woman, really funny and expressive. So when the time came for us to choose some colors for her brooch, we thought that the vitality of Orange, the femininity of Violet and the warmth of Yellow would suit her disposition beautifully.

Es un broche con pétalos de cuero dorado, con cuentas en tonos crema, pizarra y beige. lleva unas delicadas plumas que le dan un bonito toque. ¡Sólo lo mejor para Mamá!

This is the present for a very client of us. It's a brooch, made of golden leather, with cream, beige and blush beads and sequins. The white, delicate feathers contrast beautifully with the leather.

Cuando recibimos el encargo, enseguida decidimos que estos colores otoñales, elegantes y sobrios, serían los perfectos para la matriarca de la familia. Es un diseño que nos encargó Elena para su madre en Navidad. Elena tenía muy claro el tipo de flor que quería y los colores que podían gustarle a su madre, así que nos explicó su idea muy bien y dejó el resto en nuestras manos. Nos pusimos manos a la obra y este fue el resultado.

Imaginen que ilusión cuando Elena nos mandó una foto de Teresa con la flor puesta. Nos hemos quedado impresionadas con su elegancia. Pero claro, de tal palo tal astilla...

Como sin duda recordarán, hace un par de meses La Volvoretta tuvo la oportunidad de participar en la Gran Canaria Fashion&Friends. Fue una experiencia maravillosa, y disfrutamos mucho de ella. Mientras estábamos allí, surgió la ocasión de colaborar con el reputado fotografo Joaquín Ponce de León en una editorial de moda y naturalmente, aceptamos encantadas.

Dado que la revista sale esta semana, por fin podemos enseñar las espectaculares fotos que Joaquín nos ha hecho llegar.

The Wedding

Mi hermano se casó el jueves pasado, y fue la boda más divertida del mundo. La gente estaba guapísima, la comida muy rica y gracias a la ayuda de Los Salvapantallas y el número especial que ofrecieron los Novios, la animación duró hasta bien entrada la madrugada! La noche se hizo muy corta.

La suerte de ser amiga de Laura es que todo lo que toca lo convierte en oro con esas manitas que tiene, así que cuando le pedí que me echara una mano con mi traje para la boda, yo ya sabía que quedaría bien. ¡Lo que no sabía es que quedaría TAN bien!

Se trata de seda teñida a mano, en una combinación de gris, violeta y ciruela apagado. Lleva una cinta de terciopelo negro bordada con lentejuelas bajo el pecho, y encaje negro adornando los tirantes de los hombros.

Lo complementamos con la pequeña rebeca bordada que lleva un aplique de plumas y flores de seda sobre el hombro, porque aunque no dejamos de estar en Canarias, ¡sigue siendo Diciembre!

Veremos si para el verano que viene podemos ofrecer algo parecido, más sencillo y no tan puesto para quien esté interesada... ¡Atentas!

It was my brother's wedding last Thursday. We had a blast! Lovely couple, delicious food, amazing live music by Los Salvapantallas and also by the bride and groom... We danced a lot, laughed a lot and had the chance to spend a lot of quality time with our loved ones.

Since Laura is all around magical and everything she touches is perfect, I decided to ask her to help me with my gown for the wedding, and look what she came up with!

It's hand dyed silk, in a gorgeous grey and plum color, with a black sequined sash and also black lace adorning the velvet of the straps.

We also made the little black cardigan with feathers and silk flowers, because no matter how warm the Canary Islands are, it's still december!

It's gorgeous and I absolutely adore it.

It was obviously quite time consuming, but I'm sure we can try and offer you something similar but a little simpler for next summer... Stay tuned!

Hace pocos días ha cumplido años Adriana. Para celebrar tan alegre acontecimiento, una de nuestras más fieles seguidoras les ha regalado un cuello y un broche de La Volvoretta, para que lo compartan tanto Adriana como su mamá.

Parece ser que el regalo gustó mucho, y estamos encantadas de que haya sido así, porque... ¿quien de nosotras no recuerda curiosear en el armario de mamá y probarse sus cosas? ¡Compartir las cosas de mamá es lo más!

A few days ago it was Adriana's birthday. One of our most loyal fan bought a scarf and a brooch for Adriana to share with her mother.

It looks like the gift was greatly appreciated, and that fills us with joy, because one of our most treasured memories from childhood is sneaking into mummy's closet and trying all her stuff on. Sharing stuff with mum is fun!
