Bryndi's 6th birthday

Bryndi turned 6 on September 16th. She had a Chef Party. Each girl got an apron upon arrival. We made our own pizzas and cupcakes.

Utah Lake

When I was in my teens and early 20's I went boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and kneeboarding on Utah Lake several times. I always thought the lake was dirty and smelled bad. Hadn't been back to the lake for years, even though we literally live less than ten minutes away from one of the marinas. On Tuesday, we went sailing with Bonneville Sailing and our friends John and Courtney. We had never been sailing before and were so impressed! It was so calm, relaxing, and fun at the same time. We all got to take a turn steering and being the "skipper". Our guide taught us how to sail and once he felt we all knew what we were doing he threw a life jacket overboard and yelled, "Man overboard!" We had to turn the boat around and rescue him. We got the life jacket safely back on board on our first try. :) I have a whole new respect for Utah Lake. No dirtiness or bad smells at all. The lake is turning a new leaf.

Then on Saturday we took our new paddle board out--to the marina by our house. So fun! The beach was sandy and soft, the water was warm and shallow--perfect for our little girls! I didn't take pictures, but here is what the paddle board looks like. Ours is 11 feet long. Like surfing and canoeing combined. If anyone wants to give it a try, just let us know and we'll take you!

Makeup job

Bryndi was riding a scooter at a friend's house Monday when she hit a crack in the sidewalk and landed on her face. Although her nose is skinned from top to bottom, she wanted to dress up and do her makeup so she would feel pretty.

She did her makeup all by herself.

Bella's 4th Birthday

Bella had a My Little Pony birthday party on June 23rd.

I learned the names of all these ponies as I made these raspberry funfetti cupcakes--Twilight Sparkle, Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie, Apple Jack, Fluttershy, and Rarity. I know, you're impressed, right?

Megan, Bella, Naiya, Levi, Lindsay, Chloe, and Abby are making butterflies.

Right after this photo was taken Bella bent down to blow out her candles and her hair caught on fire! Luckily Richard was quick and put the flames out before they hurt her, but there was a lot of singed hair! Bella doesn't like ponytails, but they are going to be mandatory at birthdays from now on!

Richard filled Bella's doorway with balloons (in a sheet) so that when they opened the door in the morning, their room was flooded with balloons!

Bobby Lawrence Karate

Bryndi and Bella took a 4 week summer karate class at Bobby Lawrence Karate in Lindon. Bobby's son Justus runs this studio. I worked with Bobby, Justus, Dallas, and Miki Lawrence when I did karate until I got my black belt in 2001. Watching their classes brought back so many fun memories! These picures are from their white belt test with Mimi. They both did a good job. Bryndi already knew a lot since she has an orange belt in TaeKwonDo already. The girls will take some more karate classes in the future, but for now we're going to try out gymnastics!

Bryndi and Bella got these little Jr. Chef hats and aprons for Christmas. This morning Rachel handed me an apron and wanted me to put it on her. So I put the hat on too and had a blast with the camera!

Cupcake Wars

One of Bryndi's favorite shows is on Food Network and it's called Cupcake Wars. Earlier this week she asked me if we could play Cupcake Wars. She wanted to be a judge or a baking assistant. So I went to town! The cute judges said the cupcakes were good. So I guess that means I win?

I used a chocolate cupcake recipe out of the Deceptively Delicious cookbook by Jessica Seinfeld. Then I made strawberry cream cheese filling and topped them with chocolate buttercream frosting. Oh yum! I'll post the recipe on my cooking blog.

Surprise party

I need to write down what this daughter of mine did yesterday.

Bryndi has been more difficult than usual last week. More talking back, arguing, not doing what she is asked, etc. I was getting pretty frustrated, but trying to be patient and figure out what to do to get her back on track. Then Saturday morning she woke up and announced that she was going to clean the whole house and throw me a surprise party. "Okay, Bryndi, that sounds fun", I say. During the day she asked me to help her make a cake, which I declined but told her we'd come up with a different dessert. She asked for decorations and I told her I didn't have any. So she asked for paper and proceeded to color and cut the paper into strips and tape the paper strips up in the kitchen and in her bedroom to decorate. Cute! She told me she was doing all this because she loved me and she knew it would make me happy to have a party. She said she didn't have a gift for me, so she set out with the paper, crayons, and tape and made me a box with a cut out heart, a rainbow, and another heart box inside--to keep my notes in. After dinner we had ice cream sundaes for our party. With sprinkles. Then I thought the party was over. "Mom! Now its time for games!" She planned out musical chairs and a pillow race game and a game where you have to keep a balloon up in the air and not let it hit the ground. Pretty fun :) At the end of it all she told me again how much she loves me and that she did the whole party for me because she loves me. What a thoughtful tender heart she has. I feel so honored to be her mom!

Snowmen!

Last week Bryndi made this snowman. All by herself!! She came up with asking me for blueberries to use for the eyes, mouth and buttons. Pretty clever. Oh, and she's a snowwoman!

She got it off on February 15th and after a couple weeks of limping, is now walking normally again!

I know it's March. I was terrible at taking pictures at Christmastime this year. So this will have to do!

This is what the girls got for Christmas from Santa! Best. Dollhouse. Ever. It was also lovely that Santa bought it back in October. He got it for a much better price and no hassles :)

She'll grow into it. I think you have to be 4 years old to see the top shelf ;)

"Broken leg" or "Trampolines are Evil"

Bryndi went to a birthday party for a classmate at Jump On It yesterday. When I went to pick her up, she told me that she had hurt her leg while she was sitting on the trampoline and another kid jumped behind her. I thought she was fine, but as the night wore on I was having too much deja vu of when Bella broke her leg back in April. Sure enough a trip to the doctor and an x-ray later we have a buckle fracture of the proximal tibia. Here she is in her splint and tomorrow we'll get the cast! She has been SO good with it all. Minimal complaining and immediately wanting to be independent and scoot herself around.She is such a good girl!

I forgot to mention in the last post how amazing my family is, how much I love them, and how happy I am with my life. I wouldn't change it! (Just make improvements, or resolutions as the case may be.) Bryndi decided today to clean her room without being asked. You might need to read that sentence again. I know! Amazing! Then she got a rag and some spray cleaner and cleaned the walls/baseboards. And she colored me a picture, wrote me a story, gave me hugs, and told me multiple times that she did all of those things because she loves me and wants to make me happy. I could write another paragraph about how great Bella is too. And Richard. I really am blessed. And this little baby Rachel of mine? I'll get up 4 times a night for several more weeks if she needs me to. She's worth it!

Just in case you were wondering, I'm still here. Have lots of pictures and things to blog about. Maybe it will happen in the new year?...Here is today: need to clean my house and take a nap (worked last night, plus Rachel has been getting up 2-4 times a night for weeks!). I need to exercise. (We have a spinning bike, elliptical, AND a treadmill in our little gym. I also have a membership to Gold's with free child care. Doesn't leave much room for excuses there!) Need to finish my latest book, The SuperFoodsRx Diet. I am a food addict and am determined to change this during the new year! I'll blog more about that later...I need to get everything finished and organized for the Young Women program this coming year. Did I mention I am the Young Women President in our ward? I need to figure out how to get Rachel to eat more. I weighed her yesterday and she has lost half a pound in the last few weeks. Yikes! This girl is going to be a YEAR old in 6 weeks and she is only 16 1/2 pounds. I need to put her on a get-fat diet. It would help if she would take formula, but she wants nothing to do with the stuff. Can't say that I blame her though. From now on she gets her whole wheat bread dipped in extra virgin olive oil, avocados sneaked in wherever she'll eat them, and coconut oil mixed in her oatmeal! What else... Richard is taking a final right now--he is doing so well with his schooling! Oh right, I need to get back to that cleaning the house thing. There are people coming over and we can't ring in the new year with the same old messy housekeeping disaster! ttyl
