May Flowers!

This digital illustration of three young fashionistas was created by Annalisa Hall and posted 5/15/2024

Not just blooming orchids, daffodils and friendships in May, but we’re reading a flourish of picture books this season including The Little Penguin and Swan Lake.

THE LITTLE PENGUIN, authored by Sheri Fink

The Little Penguin loves to explore and collect colorful gems on her excursions. When finding her treasures becomes more important than spending time with her friends, she sets out on increasingly risky expeditions to acquire more and more. Once the gems crowd her out of her home, she realizes that having the freedom to utilize her space and being generous of heart are the best treasures of all.

This charming social-emotional storybook empowers young listeners to enjoy their toys and hobbies in moderation while appreciating the value of friendship and giving.

Available at Amazon and Whimsical World

When rainstorms are sporadic and blue sky shines, it’s Spring for San Diego County. I’ve been here since 1981 and believe that 2024 is the year for big clouds and amazing weather. . . it’s not unusual for this area though, but my perspective and appreciation for no snow or tornados has grown. I love the cool mornings and bright afternoons. When I don’t have to worry about extreme conditions, I can focus on my work, my writing, my family without added stress. I feel lucky to be in San Diego – a beautiful and clean place to live. Where do you live and why? I’d like to know what makes your place special to you.

Enjoy the Spring season to the fullest. Look up and smile too.

Smiles,

Anna

Today’s Joy

25 January 2024

Because I love journaling and have been writing in journals since I was eight years old, I endorsed the new book “Bring Forth Your Record: A Guide to Preserving Spiritual Experiences” by Rachel Matthews. When you want to start doing something the right way I suggest reading Rachel’s book because it’s important to find the correct updated versions of those things that remain important to you and your growth.

The latest book I’ve been listening to is called “Atomic Habits: An Easy & Proven Way to Build Good Habits & Break Bad Ones” by James Clear. The lessons of creating new habits at an atomic level is important when old ones are getting you stuck in the muck, and we all need help with adjustments to progress.

Today is the day to begin small, with simple steps forward toward my goals and impressions. Consider what you’d like to accomplish tomorrow and prepare today. Read, use and remember those things that will help you be successful. Seek out those books that will aid and champion your goals. And then let’s go!!

Enjoy your day y’all and happy reading.

Thank you for following along with my adventures in writing, working, and achieving relevant content for those of us who are traditionally non-traditional.

To recap, 2023 provided me with a very busy work schedule at Eastman Soil [eastmansoil.com] and captured my heart for compost, mulch, and garden soils. Geoff has worked plenty hard to make our dirt yard an oasis for working, and enjoying blue sky days in San Marcos, CA.

Looking forward, 2024 will give us the ample opportunities to become better at work, at home, and at play. To be specific, when it comes to #mulch #compost and #concrete I’ve learned what is necessary and what’s excessive. I’ve learned I do love recycling and reusing things to their advantage, but I’m not afraid to trash something that’s broken, bent or unusable, because I know the benefits of modern science, modern medicine, and updates to the obselete.

Yah, I used to be very upset when changes occur without my permission. Yah, I used to consider so many things horrible and then, I changed my own perspective to include why I might have gotten things wrong for so long. And now I’m encouraged by updates, change, and things I can’t control because it means people are trying to improve and that’s worth championing.

You can find me on Instagram at HELPFUL_ANNALISA

You can search me in LinkedIn and other places, but the truth of the matter is that my life right now is focused on learning how to do customer service, sales, and being a better CFO.

On a personal note, our children are growing up faster and brighter than cactus. LOL.

For my birthday last year, Geoff created signs for our business and we added them Labor Day weekend.

For celebrations this year, I plan to showcase this years growers, landscape artists, and hardscape projects. We are interested in this land where we live, work, and play. It’s time to dedicate our resources to helping others find the right products for their groundcover, and finishing yard work together so that we can enjoy this wonderful life.

My family [see my selfie pictured above] is all the motivation I need to do better. Please let me know in the comments how you plan to be motivated and empowered in 2024 to do more, to do better, and to be part of those communities that will aid your personal and professional goals to be achieved.

Share with me your ideas on improvements, and Happy writing y’all.

Happy everything!!

Cherish your routine and be friendly to yourself.

Keep up the good work and let’s go oOoOOoo have more fun!!!

Smiles, Annalisa

At age 43, I was gifted surfing lessons. I took eight surf lessons with 4 different coaches. The photo I found on a usb drive from the garbage pile shows surfer in Costa Rica, but it’s the wave and motion that strikes me as awesomeness because I do like to imagine I could click a picture like that one. I’m happy for what those lessons taught me about my core strength.

At age 44, I was gifted a subscription to F1 TV Pro to watch all Formula One races that season live, broadcast as if I were there in real-time, not replay. It was the most fun trying to manage my life, time, and squeezing in the midnight races too. I’m happy for what it taught me about priorities and making space for important joys like F1 and I even loved it so much, that I was party to witnessing Max Verstappen’s greatest Red Bull season so far…. #maximum Wiiings

At age 45, I was gifted a 4-day Thanksgiving holiday. I spent my time at home and with my husband and children doing non-traditional things like going out to eat together for a Thanksgiving feast. And surprising ourselves with tickets to see the Gulls Hockey game and traveling to Pechanga Stadium where the staff make the Fans happy.

I am proud my books are still in print and available where books are sold. https://www.cedarfort.com/products/i-want-to-be-baptized-hardcover

Happy Thanksgiving!

SURF’S UP! In San Diego too y’all
