Une brève histoire: l’association Musicologie Médiévale naît en 2006 de la rencontre de passionnés. Dès 2007 le site Gregofacsimil est ouvert et publie une édition musicale des répons présents dans l'antiphonaire de Hartker  et le fichier "Manuscrits Internet" qui va devenir MMMO en 2016.
En 2009, c'est la création du réseau "Musicologie Médiévale", regroupant plus de 3000 membres, réunissant chercheurs et interprètes. Depuis 2012 le Réseau Musicologie Médiévale est partenaire de DIAMM (Digital Image Archive of Medieval Music, Oxford Faculty of Music). En 2016, le Réseau Musicologie Médiévale prend la suite du « Forum des musiques médiévales » de l'APEMUTAM.
Encore en 2016, c'est la création de la MMMO Database (Medieval music manuscripts online database) faisant parti du Cantus Index Network dirigé par Debra Lacoste (University of Waterloo).
