I often see parents ask "is this appropriate for __" their child, designated with an age.
It is hard to answer that question because we all have different views on what we would deem appropriate content for a: 13 year old, 15 year old, 17 year old. So I try to include content information so that they can make that decision on their own.
It is not meant to cast a positive or negative view - simply to point out that a particular topic is in a book. There are many topics I listed for this book. I want to know what my child is reading but am unable to read everything that he/she does.
Personally, I do not believe in book banning. I do want to know what topics are in books to spark discussions with my child that include that topic. I believe books are one of the best ways to connect - especially with teenagers - in non-threatening ways about a wide variety of topics.

I've heard some pretty mixed reviews for Bookishly Every After which is disappointing as the premise is so amazing! I think I'll pass though. I love the sound of Inside Hudson Pickle and that serious issues are addressed without being glorified. This is a book I definitely need to put on my son's TBR.
