Wishing our Sonora and Chili a very happy guesstimated birthday!

Here are some of the first pictures of them, along with their littermate sister, Tamale.

Neither were planned adoptions.

And yet, it's hard to imagine life without them.

Chili Pepper, pictured above, was dropped off with her siblings in a shoe box at Petco while iDaddy and NTM were doing adoptions with other foster cats.

NTM took home the box of three tiny un-weaned kits as bottle babies.

Never planned to adopt any of the three, only foster them.

Only one of the three were adopted by others, and Sonora and Chili Pepper ended up staying in our home. Sonora was adopted first, because she totally stole NTM's heart. Chili went to several week's of adoption weekends at Petco, but was continually overlooked. She and Sonora had bonded, and eventually iDaddy agreed to let NTM officially adopt Chili so that she didn't have to go back to Petco.
Meanwhile, at one adoption event, while breaking down the cages at the end of the afternoon, there turned out to be one more kitten than when we started. Apparently, someone came in with a kitten and snuck it in to a cage while we were busy. And left it. No one else in the rescue group wanted a dropped-off kitten, so NTM took it home to foster. We thought the little white and orange kitten was a girl at first, so the head of the rescue organization called her Angela.
Turns out when it came time to be fixed, Angela was an Angelo.
But iDaddy called this little lost kitten "Moosh Moosh" which means apricot in Arabic. Moosh Moosh and iDaddy have a special bond, so the deal was if NTM got to adopt Chili, then iDaddy got to adopt Moosh Moosh. So that's how these two cuties came to be part of our family back in 2013.

Here is the first post we put up here about them, when we were fostering them:

We're now a foster family for a trio of adorable kittens known as the Pepper Pack. These three kittens were brought into the PetCo where the rescue group that NTM volunteers for, and just left! Someone had them in a box, brought them up to a cashier at PetCo, and just turned around and left! Can you imagine?

Thank goodness for the rescue group The Way Home, because these awesome volunteers didn't hesitate to take them in. The volunteers had had Tex-Mex for lunch, and the little grey kitten was MEW MEW MEW MEW MEWING and already trying to get out of the kennel at PetCo. One of the volunteers said, "This one is a hot tamale!" And so that's how the little grey kitten became known as Tamale. The volunteers used their smart phone to google other Tex-Mexy sounding names for Tamale's sisters, and they came up with Chili Pepper for the lighter tabby and Sonora Pepper for the tiny darker-colored tabby.
We thought we'd share some other names that these kittens could have been named! (We're happy with Tamale, Chile, and Sonora!)

Another flashback to about a year ago - babies Sonora Pepper (Sonny P) and Chili Pepper (Silly P) sleeping with their Daddy.
You can see my thumb on the left, so see how tiny Sonny P was at the time.

It was just about a year ago when three amazing little kittens came into our lives. In the picture above, you can see Sonora, Tamale, and Chili - the Peppers!
Tamale eventually was adopted into a Forever Home and Sonora & Chili became part of our family. Hard to believe it's been almost a year since they came here. When Sonora and Chili have their Gotcha Days we will definitely celebrate, but for now just wanted to share some of the first pictures we have of them. Have a great weekend!

Today is Movember at the Tabby Cat Club, and this is our own Sonora's first time hosting an event over there, so we do hope you'll stop by and see all the kitties in their photo-shopped mustachery. Here are our own tabbies of Purrchance To Dream, participating in the event. Chili Pepper is pictured above, and then below are Bella, Daphne, and Sonora.

Just like October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, November highlights testicular cancer and prostate cancer for men with a movement called Movember. We hope you enjoyed our stache-tastic tabbiness today, and remember that there are many types of cancer out there, and while we love pink & pink ribbons in October, we do love a good mustache in November, too!

Sonora and Chili have a big announcement over at The Tabby Cat Club today, and it's more than just them being numbers 99 and 100 in the TCC First 100 members! Make sure you check it out for the big news!

Yesterday, we saw adopted brothers PJ & Angelo wrestling together. Today, we get to see some of littermate sisters Sonora, Chili, and Tamale's first pictures together when they were little kittens, before grey sister Tamale was adopted to a new home. Sonora was so tiny to start with, but she's gained lots of ground since then, and she and Chili are now very close in size. But Sonora still has those great big melt-your-heart eyes!

Name: Chili Pepper

Family Stuff: I was abandoned at a Petco in Orlando before I was even weaned, with my sisters Sonora Pepper and Tamale Pepper - we're the Peppers! Our sister Tamale got adopted by a nice lady who saw us during an adoption event at Petco.
My sister Sonora got adopted by NTM and iDaddy before I did, because I hadn't convinced them yet that I wasn't just a foster kid but a forever member of their family. Sometimes it takes them a while to realize things.

Nick-name Not The Mama calls me: Silly Chili, or just 'Silly'

Pet Peeve: I don't understand why it took Not The Mama so long to convince iDaddy that I wasn't going anywhere, that I wasn't really a foster kid, I was part of the family forever!

Favorite place to sleep: If I don't get to sleep on NTM's tummy, then I'll say on the window seat in the living room.

Favorite Things: Stinky goodness! I will HOLLER for it! FEED ME NOW!

Favorite Toy: A plastic orange frog, who I call Mr. Orange Frog.

Favorite Color: black

Interesting Tidbit: Above the tabby M on my forehead, I have a white line going across the top of my head, going from ear to ear.

Chili was one of the Pepper Pack bottle baby kittens we took in this past winter when we started fostering for The Way Home. Tamale was adopted out to a Forever Home, and of course, we adopted Sonora.
But Chili has been consistently overlooked in the adoptions at Petco on Saturdays, and during the time she's been here, we simply fell in love with her and also love the close bond she has with her sister Sonora. Complicating matters was us falling in love with Angelo. How could we open our home to another kitten like Angelo, and not adopt Chili? This was not an easy decision. After much deliberation, and some stress, we finally decided to adopt BOTH Angelo and Chili. So now Chili Pepper can stay with her sister Sonora, and not have to go through the weekly stress of going to Petco for potential adoptions, only to be overlooked each week. While having nine cats now in our Purrchance To Dream bunch may be a bit overwhelming, especially while we still have two half-grown foster cats (Beau & Dallas) here with us. But in the long run, I think that adding Chili to our family is the best decision for all of us!
