This year is no exception: HP Velotechnik is completing the 2026 relaunch of its Delta tx comfort delta trike with a whole range of new features, following the introduction of the first innovations over the past few weeks.

Just Flip It Up and Take a Seat: HP Velotechnik Introduces the Streamer 2.0 for Trikes

HP Velotechnik has updated its long-standing Streamer weather fairing, making the new Streamer 2.0 an ideal aerodynamic wind and rain protection solution for the company’s Scorpion and Gekko trike models.

Originally introduced more than twenty years ago as a weather protection system for recumbent bicycles, the Streamer has earned a reputation for keeping riders’ feet and legs dry while shielding them from cold headwinds. With the redesigned 2026 Streamer 2.0, HP Velotechnik has focused on improving compatibility with recumbent trikes while making everyday use significantly easier.

The biggest improvement is a new flip-up mechanism that allows riders to enter and exit the trike effortlessly. With a single motion, the fairing swings upward, providing unobstructed access to the seat. Once seated, the rider simply lowers it back into position.

While the concept sounds straightforward, the engineering behind it was anything but simple. Previous Streamer versions relied on two mounting points. The new design uses just one mounting point at the front boom, eliminating the need for a central support attached to the main frame. The result is much easier ingress and egress without sacrificing stability on the road.

According to HP Velotechnik, achieving this balance between rigidity and ease of operation required new materials and manufacturing techniques, including the use of 3D-printed components.

The redesign also expands compatibility. Earlier Streamer versions could only be installed on non-motorized bikes or models equipped with rear hub motors. The new Streamer 2.0 is now compatible with trikes using mid-drive systems, including Shimano drive units mounted at the front boom.

The fairing itself retains its distinctive shape and TÜV-certified construction, featuring a highly durable PET windshield that provides effective protection against wind and rain while maintaining good visibility.

The Streamer 2.0 is available through HP Velotechnik dealers since mid-May at a retail price of €799 / US$ 959.

For riders who commute year-round or simply want additional comfort during colder and wetter conditions, the Streamer 2.0 looks like a welcome evolution of one of the most recognizable weather protection systems in the recumbent world.

Innovative system enhances comfort, panoramic visibility, and accessibility for riders

LAS VEGAS, NV — MARCH 18, 2026 — German recumbent specialist HP VELOTECHNIK is unveiling a world-first innovation for its Delta tx e-trike at the CABDA West bicycle trade show: The new Under Seat Steering (USS)
designed to provide an even more relaxed and ergonomic riding experience. The new steering system will be presented publicly for the first time at CABDA West on March 18–19 in Las Vegas.

Recumbent trikes are known for comfort and stability, but HP VELOTECHNIK’s latest design takes the concept further. Unlike traditional Above Seat Steering, the new system positions the handlebars alongside the rider’s body, allowing arms to remain relaxed while the hands naturally grip the handlebar ends. This position enables effortless control of steering, shifting, brakes, and motor functions. “The new Under-Seat Steering allows riders to relax their arms completely while enjoying an unobstructed panoramic view,” said Daniel Pulvermüller, CEO of HP VELOTECHNIK.

Innovative Integrated Adjustment System
To ensure the trike fits riders of different heights, HP VELOTECHNIK developed a new integrated design combining the seat mount and Under Seat Steering assembly into a single component. When the seat is moved forward or backward along the Delta tx’s sliding rail to accommodate different riders, the steering position automatically moves with it. A specially designed quick-release clamp allows riders to easily adjust the position while maintaining the ideal ergonomic distance between seat and handlebars. The USS allows independent adjustment of handlebar width, tilt angle, and ergonomic positioning. Large quick-release levers allow riders with limited mobility to fold the right handlebar section away, making it easier to enter or exit the seat.

Availability and Pricing
The Delta tx with Under Seat Steering will be available starting May 2026 through authorized dealers in the USA and abroad. The e-trike will be offered in Blue Flash or Sparkling Iron Gray.

The specialty bicycle manufacturer is making a strong showing at two B2B trade shows in Chicago and Las Vegas / The export-driven brand is also focusing on trikes in the United States

KRIFTEL. German recumbent bike manufacturer HP VE-LOTECHNIK is sending a clear message to its U.S. dealer network. Despite ongoing challenges in transatlantic relations, the company will exhibit with its own booth at the two most important B2B bicycle trade shows in the United States.

The first appearance takes place in early February at CABDA Midwest in Schaumburg, in the greater Chicago area. Notably, Paul Hollants, co-founder and co-CEO of HP VELOTECHNIK, will be attending in person. Outlining the company’s North American strategy, Hollants explains: “We’ve been active in the U.S. market for more than 20 years. With exports accounting for over 50 percent of our business, the United States is by far our most important international market. Our presence at CABDA Midwest underscores that commitment.”

HP VELOTECHNIK plans to use the two-day event at the Schaumburg Convention Center to strengthen existing dealer relationships and establish new partnerships. “There’s hardly a better venue for this than a trade show supported by the NATIONAL BICYCLE DEALERS ASSOCIATION,” Hollants adds. With approximately 1,000 members, the NBDA is the largest organization representing bicycle retailers in North America. As an industry partner of the NBDA, HP VELOTECHNIK gains access to exclusive opportunities, including a featured presentation titled “Dealing Trikes in a Risk-Free Business Opportunity,” which highlights the growth potential of adult tricycles.

According to organizer CABDA, the show on February 4-5 is expected to host around 250 exhibitors representing more than 300 brands. HP VELOTECHNIK’s second U.S. appearance will follow at CABDA West in Las Vegas on March 18-19.

Around the world many recumbent brands have trusted George Chen and Performer Cycles to provide this metal or carbon fiber skeleton for their products for over 25 years. He also sells his own brand of bikes and trikes to markets globally.

We sat down with George to learn more about the history and philosophy of his company, his designs and video of production from inside his factory. We also speak to our pal Dana Lieberman owner of Bacchetta Bikes. He updates us on his new line of fully integrated e-assist two wheel bents and a brand new recumbent two wheel tandem. Dana has worked closely with George at Performer Cycles to create a completely new design for frames on motorized versions of Bacchetta’s legacy bikes.
