Need more distraction. [Mar. 16th, 2012|11:45 pm]
Tyson
It's been a very hard week (month), and I'm very sad. This despite being at a party with some of my favorite people. Maybe one day I'll feel like filling in the details. I just feel like whining.

Second Guessing [Jul. 18th, 2011|10:33 pm]

After 10 years of service, I turned in my resignation today. It's the most frightening thing of my adult life.

Pavement Cat has been rescued. [Jun. 19th, 2010|01:19 pm]

We cut open the concrete and lured him out with Fancy Feast. Once out and settled he was very docile. Definitely not a feral cat. He is now resting comfortably at the Lange Foundation, an organization for animal rescue. (Feel free to make a donation. :) )

After the building owner saw those photos of the cat under the concrete, he was completely
on board with the rescue operation. After he finally heard the cat meow through the gap in the concrete, he was extremely apologetic for not believing me when I first told him about the situation. He certainly didn't do this on purpose.

And just so you know, the concrete was to be cut open in the near future to gain access to plumbing. These events just stepped up the schedule.

Lost Cat [Jun. 16th, 2010|10:12 pm]
Tyson
I'm very disturbed.

The owner of my apartment building had the planters along the walkway filled in with cement. I suspect that the stray cat which was living under the walkway got sealed in.

I've spent several hours sitting out on the walkway, occasionally hearing a sad little cry coming somewhere from under me.

The owner is a jackass, which leaves me not knowing what to do.

I know I have gray in my beard, but why has the AARP singled me out for a membership?

The Products of Science [Dec. 15th, 2009|09:47 am]
Tyson
Can you logically reject the methods of science while accepting its products?

To personally pick and choose the products of scientific discovery, denying those that you personally disagree with, is to say that the methods are only selectively correct. This is not to say that we should do everything that scientific discovery enables us to do. That would be just as dumb. But to be up in arms in the denial of experimentally corroborated knowledge about human origins is to do far more than simply deny Darwin's theory of evolution.

It seems to me that their are a lot of fundamentalists in the world who should turn in their cell phones.

Bicycle Stolen [Nov. 26th, 2009|10:38 pm]

It's been four days since, and I'm still bummed out about my electric bicycle being stolen. I was almost ready to start commuting to work with it once again.

I had stopped riding it after the time I got doored while cycling night. That night I'd nearly broken my arm, but more importantly, I'd been traumatized about cycling at night. So even though I'd prefer to commute to work by bike, I haven't since work usually keeps me out late.

Eventually, I convinced myself that for night time cycling, I needed more light at chest and head level to be safe. (The woman who doored me says she didn't see me because she'd just had her windows tinted.) This was the genesis of...

The EL Wire Visibility Vest.

And it was good.

It's taken quite a long time to sew up the 30 feet of EL wire by hand (I wouldn't make it the same way again) but it is nearly done. It's just too bad it didn't get to live up to its intended purpose.

The electric bike was stolen from my apartment's gated garage about a week ago. I'd been fixing it up in preparation for returning to the bicycle commute.

Upcoming Seattle Trip [Sep. 10th, 2009|09:41 pm]
Tyson
It looks like I'll be heading up to Seattle on September 18 for a little business. I'm thinking about extending my stay for the weekend.

So, what's happening around Seattle that weekend that I should see?
