So for Christmas, we had my entire family here to celebrate with us in Chicago. So much fun!!! It went all too fast with many highs and well, a big low of Greta breaking her leg on our trampoline. :-( So sorry, Greta!!! With so many people and fun going on, there was hardly time to grab the camera a snap our happiness, but here are some pics.

Elsa feeding Eliana. Here are the kids playing on our new Wii game of Just Dance. The kids really liked this both big and small...we don't have pictures of the big kids aka the adults, playing, but trust me, it was a blast! I can't hear "Cotton Eye Joe" and not think of this moment!
My Mom and Dad were the first to come out to Chicago. This was taken on Christmas day, right after church...can you tell that the kids were done with pictures and church clothes?! Just look at Eva...her picture really catches a slice of the energy she had that day! Baby was fussy, Ariana is done, Regan is telling her just one more picture like Mom and Dad keep saying, my Dad is laughing, and my Mom is glazed over as this was the 8th picture we tried to capture....ah the joys!
Here we are...the best of our pictures... :-)

So...we have fallen behind on the blogging wagon. Last time I remember posting, I was trying to catch up from the kids' last day of school...yikes! So with it being a new year...and the last day of January, I thought I would start a fresh page and start posting to catch our lives before the kids are gone off to college... :-) Ryan and I have been talking a lot about how in 5 years, Maile will be off to some university...EESH! Five years is not a very long time and since our kids are close together in age, it will be one after the other. It is a very sobering thought for us indeed. Where did the time go?! I find myself staring at Maile frequently and thinking, "I'm not ready!!!" It seemed like just yesterday we moved here and had our favorite babysitter, Katie Berns, who had just turned 12...and now she is well into her college years! How did this happen?! So, I will try to document our lives more in a simple way to catch the moments that we have at our current season in life.

Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-74366062289237350572011-11-03T14:47:00.001-07:002011-11-03T14:58:09.333-07:00CaliforniaThe kids were super excited to collect Pinata Bob's treasure chest contents. We had a great time at Bob and Nancy's. I didn't get to capture the motorcycle trip that Uncle Bob took me on. That's right, folks, Uncle Bob took me on an amazing 45 minute Harley ride all the way through the freeways of the Los Angeles area. It was AMAZING to feel the wind in my hair and skin as we drove through the beautiful scenery. Bob told me that he is hoping to sell the beautiful bike we rode on...I'm wishfully hoping that he will hold onto it for a little bit until we have the money for it... a girl can always dream!!!Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-52398535346688139042011-11-03T13:40:00.001-07:002011-11-03T14:47:12.548-07:00California Trip Continued

While being down in Southern California, we got to be with extended family. We spent the day with my Dad's side of the family. Even Matt from Hong Kong, was there. Here are Eliana and Great Grandpa Pierson. My Grandma Pierson told my Dad that it is interesting how when a baby is so young, time is huge. The same goes for those in their golden years. Here are two people at two different points in their lives.

We told the kids when we were going down to LA, that Bob had passed away. The kids were all horrified and said. "Pinata Bob died?!" They thought that Uncle Bob who they call, "Pinata Bob" from when he did a pinata for the kids last year, had passed away. They were very happy to know that Pinata Bob was indeed very much alive and that he had a pinata for the kids to crack on our trip there. We were having too much fun to capture it all on the camera. This was outside of pirates of the Caribbean. This was the ONLY ride that we ALL wanted to go on really, really badly...and guess what?! It was the ONLY one closed! So they had pirate workers playing instruments and singing with the crowd. We loved joining them. The twins did a dance for everyone...so cute! Love Disneyland! I'm guessing that the locals asking, were all dressed in coats and long pants and we were in bathing suits was the give away... :-)
The kids were so excited to swim at Grammy's house. I had play group over here among other crazy things. So as I was vacuuming before everyone came over. I went up the stairs and came upon a floor full of hair...with 10 minutes before play group came over, I had discovered Eva had cut her hair. She told me that she wanted her hair to turn brown...I quickly thought, "Oh like tangled the movie..." Sure enough, she pulled a Flynn Ryder and cut her hair, but no brown hair came about her fun. So I called Chelsea...thank you SOOOO much, Chelsea for saving my bacon...she came over and took Eva to super cuts to fix her hair cut. She came back with this cute cut. It fits her personality. She is our bouncy fun girl! We told her to never cut her hair or anything else! Ah...the perfect cherry to my sundae of a crazy day!Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-54689198441701130942011-09-17T09:27:00.001-07:002011-09-17T09:44:43.607-07:00New Brick in our Family RoomI have been putting off doing some projects that I have been wanting to do for awhile now. So while Ryan was gone on on conference, I decided to redo our fire place. Our family room was a dark hole of a room. I tried lighting it with lights and bright paint, but it just never worked. So one night way back when, I was looking for cheaper versions of updating rooms. I stumbled across a website called, brick-anew. They sell paints in a kit that allow you to update your fireplace for a fraction of redoing it professionally. I ordered the kit a long time ago, and it sat in our basement during spring, summer, and now fall...but no more. I thought if I lightened up the brick, it may light up the room...and sure enough...it has! The above is our ugly before....
and here is our after...well, almost done, I still have to paint the fireplace doors, but have come upon a hiccup in that process paint wise, so I'll have to look further into it. I was thinking either a rubbed oil bronze color or chrome color... Such choices. I am redoing the room and will be painted the walls as well. I found a rug at Target on clearance for $32! YEA!!! So it is coming together. My friend and I are talking about making bookshelves for the sides of the fireplace to hide the hideous (supposed to be temporary but became permanent solution) for our media stuff. I love change!!! Especially this kind of change!
Here is a close up of the brick. My Mom couldn't see it that well on skype...don't know if this is any better. The brick-anew paint process makes the brick look like brick/stone. I LOVE IT! Thanks so much to Chelsea for coming over and doing it with me!!! I couldn't have done it without her!!! Now onto the fireplace door paint and the wall paint. I will be posting when I get that done...might be a while :-)Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-65546163138590986302011-08-28T14:29:00.000-07:002011-08-28T14:43:24.021-07:00New Hair for Dawn
I know, I know...it's been eons since posting. I think I am debilitated by the number of pictures I need to download and blog about. I am talking about summer here folks, the BEGINNING of summer! So..I will make this quick post because some people heard about me dying my hair and wanted to see what it looks like.... While my mom and dad were visiting last week, Chelsea came over one day and said, "Let's change your hair red...you have been wanting red hair for a while, let's do it today." It's true. I have been wanting to change my hair red ever since seeing Drew Barrymore with her new auburn locks that she is rocking right now. So with the help of my amazingly talented mom, and Chelsea as the Jr colorist, we did my hair. A couple days later, I had it cut. I wanted it thinned out and long layers put in..a different look than what I have done before, so this is what I got. My hair dresser curled it with her flat iron for that 70's look. I have to say that I love it! I think it makes my skin look like it has more color in it...I LOVE it! SO glad that I did it!!!

Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-32966604375118730702011-07-25T09:27:00.000-07:002011-07-25T09:32:20.393-07:00Maile goes to Girl's CampI just dropped Maile off to her YW leader's house for Girl's Camp. Here she is with her other 12 year old friends going. She was so super excited about leaving that she had a hard time going to sleep last night...ah if only I could harness just a small percentage of that energy! Her friends texted her this morning with excitement about going to camp. We are excited for her adventures this week, but will miss her incredibly! Here we are to redeem ourselves at 9 months. We took her to the Doctor for her well visit. The stats are in! She weighs a whopping 15.4 lbs. She is is 2 ft 2. :-) Which puts her in the 5th percentile for her weight and 10th for height. She is 50th for head. She is definitely our petite baby! :-) She is our cute baby! She enjoys sitting, rolling around and smiling. She isn't crawling yet, but does get from place to place by rolling. She likes to mimic sounds especially a grunting one the kids will do with her. She loves eating sweet potatoes and green beans. She also loves oatmeal with prunes in it. Sleeping through the night is still a dream of ours. Last night, she woke up 4 times! It's a good thing that she is cute! We love our little miracle baby!Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-16144108624054673192011-07-25T09:11:00.000-07:002011-07-25T09:14:58.776-07:00Tales of Kyla's TeethKyla has been loosing her teeth recently. We have been enjoying our summer immensely! Our latest adventure consisted of a fun Sunday where I stayed home from church with Eliana because she wasn't feeling well...guess others should have stayed too because I got a call from Ryan on his way home from church. He was holding Eva and without any warning, she started throwing up all over. We usually sit in the second pew, so it was quite the view for everyone behind. In fact, the family behind us actually got puked on too. Ah the joys. I guess it was all over facebook from friends at church. So fun! :-) Ryan came home with a pink looking shirt. Chelsea saw him at church and said, "When does Ryan wear pink shirts?!" Nope, just decorated from Eva. After having just half the family succumb to the flu, we have been enjoying ourselves with the summer days we have left. So...we'll be posting hopefully tomorrow. So much to catch up on, it is going to be slow goings! Highlights thus far from summer include:

family visiting, the beach, catching fire flies, playing outside in general, playing at our friend's cabin and watching Ariana water ski, and kayaking.
Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-26601045695045989112011-05-26T10:30:00.000-07:002011-05-26T11:13:47.826-07:00A new house guestThis is a bit of a funny/sad story. While we were in New York, Chelsea told us over the phone that a mommy bunny had a nest in our garden box in the back yard. Chelsea didn't know that the nest was there until...Ella our dog got into the nest and destroyed some of the baby bunnies. Yes, I feel awful even though it is nature. Chelsea wouldn't let Ella out to the back yard unless she was on a leash so Ella couldn't destroy more bunnies. When we came home Tuesday afternoon, the kids showed us that there were still bunnies alive in the nest. We told them not to touch the nest or the bunnies. Well, Ana picked one up (dead) with a tupperware container and put it by the back door. I told Ryan to take the dead bunny and dispose of it. He did. There were other dead bunnies laying around the yard...because the mother bunny pulled them out of the nest, probably to save the others. So Wednesday afternoon, I was on the phone with my friend scheduling out carpools and what not when Eva walked into my room with this creature in her hands. She was so excited to show me! I thought all the bunnies were dead, so I started screaming thinking she is holding onto a dead bunny in our house...nope, it was alive...and it was moving it's little head. Baby bunnies look a bit like mice minus the tail, so I really thought it was a mouse at first. So Eva put the bunny on our couch in our bedroom and the poor little thing was moving it's head. Well, after interrogating Eva, she told me that she put the baby bunny in a Tupperware container with a washcloth and had it sleep in the girls' doll house overnight. She even tried to feed it waffles. She was totally crying as she told me because she thought she was in trouble...she wasn't...I just wanted to know if there were more and how did this come into the house as well as thinking about hand washing for Eva. I felt awful! It all made sense to me because all morning, she was playing super quiet in her room. Well, now I know why....she was playing with this baby bunny. So I asked if there were any more bunnies and she said no. I went to the nest and there were no more bunnies, so I wondered if she was housing any more...but she wasn't...they all died.
When I asked her to show me where she had the bunny, she pulled out a Tupperware container with a washcloth as a bed from behind the pink staircase in their room. They had hidden the bunny from sight. When the other kids came home, I asked them if they knew about it. It turns out that Regan was the one who did it and put the bunny there Tuesday morning. I asked him why he did that, he said, "Mom, I wanted to see it grow like a plant...but don't worry, I washed my hands really well after touching it." I explained about how the baby bunny needed food and what not and he said, "Don't worry Mom, I took care of it. I put a medicine syringe and fed the bunny, milk through it. The baby wouldn't open it's mouth, so I would just place drops of milk on his lips and he would lick it off." So we put the bunny back in the nest. Maile would put gloves on and check it. She was going to call the preserve in a neighboring city and take it there so it could have a chance to survive as the mother bunny obviously thought the baby was dead and gone when really, the baby was alive in our warm doll house. Maile came into our bedroom at 6am the next morning and said, 'The bunny died...it was too cold outside...I buried it in our front yard in a toilet paper roll and duct tape." I felt awful! So, the flag is half mast at the Batchelor house.Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-87355094022861584952011-05-26T10:16:00.000-07:002011-05-26T10:30:40.929-07:00Catch up on Man trips, spa, and cutenessI walked by the girls' room to find this. They picked up a Uhaul as Moochie was buying some furniture there. Warren Buffet owns a huge furniture store there...among other stores...so during the conference week, they slash prices even more. Michael was super excited to take advantage of the deals! So, I called it, "The Man Trip." I joked with them that they would have 24 hours of singing into hair brushes and jumping on their hotel beds with pillows. Michael and I have been talking about her day for months about his surprise to her. As the big day approached, we came up with a plan for her day. Michael was going to take the day off as a complete surprise to her. I was going to take her to Cracker Barrel for breakfast and when we got there, Michael would be there waiting for her....I'd take Bib home with me, and they would start their day off with breakfast with the two of them. After that, Moochie was going to take her on a canoe trip for the day. Well, a few days before, someone let it slip that Moochie was taking the day off and that they were going on a run with the canoes. So, her day came and Michael ended up having to to work a little bit and it rained...so going in the canoe was off and Chelsea had Michael, Bib, Eliana, Eva, and I go to breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We had fun!!! After breakfast, they went home and came back to our house to have dinner and dessert. Chelsea's friend made 2 huge cakes that looked quite fabulous. We opened up presents and Chelsea got the CHI from all of us. She then opened up Moochie's present which was hair products and an IOU for more hair products. Ryan and I were smirking in the back ground because we knew that he really had a much greater present waiting for her...but was teasing her with this "gift" as she would believe it because he is the king of IOU's. She was trying to put on a brave smile, but we could tell she was disappointed. Well, after presents, we started to light the candles when Moochie came out with another present. She was surprised. Chelsea told us after that she thought it was more hair products...little did she know that she was in for a real surprise! Check out the proud look on Michael's face!
Yup...she was totally SURPRISED!!! Well, Moochie had been researching for it for awhile. He talked with Dan who is a camera expert...and then ended up flying back east and picking it up for her. It was cute to talk to him often about how to surprise Chelsea with it. Man...how is he going to top off this year's present?! SO cute! We love you Chelsea! Ariana came into our room at 6am and was ready....we made her wait. :-)
We tried doing a new thing this year with our Easter eggs....we turned two of them into snorkel eggs. We had fun making/hunting for them. Our kids really like to eat hard boiled eggs, so they are very excited that we have made so many at one time. I didn't get a chance to take any more pictures after this...but we went to church and then had Michael, Chelsea, Bib, David, Shelly, Calleigh, and Debbie (Ryan's best friend's mom from Arizona who just moved out here) over for our Easter dinner. It was fun to laugh and talk with everyone. What a wonderful Easter! We hope your Easter was as fabulous as ours.Batcheshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09065556931432808280noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6067450839539509917.post-29269385899755006932011-04-25T08:31:00.000-07:002011-04-25T09:08:10.992-07:00a bit of this and thatKyla makes us laugh with the things she does. She keeps us smiling! I found her in the kitchen after the kids all came home from school. She helped herself to a jar of applesauce--one of her favorite treats right now. When I went to put the signs up that night, she had made one of the letter, "C's" have two eyes. The next day, she told me that she made a, "Mr. Chair." We had awesome seats!!! It was so much fun to be there! Ryan was sad to see his team lose, but we were happy!!! There is nothing like seeing a game live! I actually got to see our old neighbor that I used to babysit, play for the Cubs. I was paying attention to the baby when I heard the people behind us say, "What parent names their kid, Darwin Barney"!" I totally jumped and said, "DARWIN BARNEY!! I used to babysit that kid for $3.00 an hour and that was a rocking good wage at the time!" Sure enough, it is THE Darwin Barney. He is the second baseman for the Cubs. He did a pretty good job that day!!! They had Eva in a laundry basket with handles and then they used ribbon to pull her up to Regan's loft bed. Eva was laughing as she was swinging back and forth in the bucket. Regan said that he came up with the idea for fun and called it the pixie dust bucket. He is such a good brother to his sisters. They all took turns being pulled up by Regan. For Ryan's Christmas present, Chelsea and Moochie got him tickets to the Bulls vs. Phoenix Suns basketball game. It was really cute because Chelsea had never been to a game before. She went and got Bulls paraphernalia while Ryan and I donned the Sun's color of purple. It was so fun! We were sitting in the third row!!! Let me tell you that it is a different game to watch when you can hear what the players are saying and see how tall they are in real person! Moochie and Chelsea were caught rocking out on the huge view camera at the United Center. SOOO much fun! It didn't even matter that the Suns lost that night...well...I guess I am the one speaking about this...it probably mattered to Ryan. :-) Thanks Moochie and Chelsea! I can't wait for our next event!
