Sometimes, certain bugs only occur with very specific system configurations.How can the functionality of AWN be extended? Currently we have 2 types of tools that can enhance the functionality of AWN: plugins and applets. Plugins are scripts that are written for other applications, for example for Pidgin and Firefox. They use functionality of AWN via the DBUS communication system. For example Pidgin can change the icon depending on your online-status. A list of plugins can be found at the wiki. Applets are mini-applications that are embedded in the dock. They are shipped in a separate project, Awn Extras.
