Amen! Good for you! I will contact CBS and spread the word. I especially took note of your insight that the pro-aborts count on their message not being challenged.

The hit from Lahore, Punjab is a Pakistani soon-to-be convert to Catholicism that I met on one of the forums I go to. He is a really great guy and saw the error in Islam and came to believe in Catholicism from the inane arguments against our faith on an anti-Catholic website. He is full of zeal right now and wants to be a priest. Deo gratia!

And of course, under Canon Law, ALL marriages are presumed to be valid, which is why they must be investigated to determine if perhaps there was an impediment that actually rendered it originally invalid. Because...the Church cannot declare nullity on a marriage that is determined to have been valid

Conversely, this is why there are some impediments to marriage that also cannot be overcome...ie a previous marriage that "ended" in divorce but was never declared null, certain physical conditions (natural law issues), etc. The Church also can't change natural law.

There are many CATHOLICS who hold the Protestant view, and believe that the Church teaches divorce itself is a sin. They end up leaving the Church, never actually investigating this for themselves, and bash the Church quite unfairly. They think they are banned from Communion simply for getting a civil divorce.

Very, very sad, and it's hard to get through all that anger to explain the true teaching.

I think the headline is absolutely accurate. Obama does represent "American" Catholics better than the Pope. And the Pope represents Catholic truth infinately better than Obama. Truth doesn't change through polling despite the wishes of the Left.
You are right, we have many people in our parishes that think just like Ms Townsend. They learned what they know of the Church through sound bites from the secular media and Catholicism Lite through our churches. It is vitually impossible to teach even reasonable people the Church's truths because they don't have the attention span and these truths cannot be taught with sound bites. Prayer is probably the only way to open their closed eyes and ears and soften their hearts of stone. The same thing that Ms Townsend thinks needs to happen to the old men running the Church.

Ted Rall is one sick individual - that was very apparent before he wrote on abortion. One thing he does, though, is admit something that "pro-choice" people refuse to do. Abortion is murder. The "pro-choice" community has re-defined the language with the full cooperation of the media in order to de-humanize the unborn child. Those folks can't be happy with Ted Rall today.

Unplanned pregnancy is a very difficult problem. Dehumanizing the baby makes this problem a lot easier to deal with. But when you're not dealing in truth, you really aren't helping anyone. At least Rall sees through the lie that unborn babies aren't human. Now I wonder how he can't acknowledge their unalienable right to life? That seems to undermine his lunatic assault on President Bush for the last seven years.

Thanks for the comment and you're welcome. No doubt this anxiousness about the future is significant in the population. I have some brother issues myself, not quite the same, but serious nevertheless.

Let's just take Our Lady's advice (pray, pray, pray), and especially today thank her for the confirmation of faith she granted to us in Fatima. Fatima is where we can point to when we are in despair. It defies skeptical attacks. And we can put our hope in her promise of ultimate victory.
