An Unexpected 80

Logard, the Raptor King

Dinged 80 on my Orc Hunter today. It’s funny, out of all my toons of low level (not to mention the sheer number of Hunters I have), I was in no rush to level him. Since Survival was changed to melee all those years ago, I more or less avoided playing him. So I saw him sitting there at level 18 and finally decided to put some time into him, just to see what Survival felt like.

Liouxpold has always been my leading Hunter. However at the moment he’s just sitting at 63. I’m just not feeling Beast Master. It could just be because I haven’t quite learned how to execute it properly, and I do plan to look into that. But having said that, Survival has been a lot of fun! I mean, obviously, or Logard wouldn’t be sitting at 80 now, and my 7th character and class to hit the pre-Midnight cap. It’s a lot like the Mage class it seems. I wasn’t feeling my tried and true Frost Mage coming back, but I dipped into Fire and loved it.

With Logard, I went Pack Leader. But Sentinel is over there staring at me just the same, so I can see me getting another Survival Hunter levelled at some point. But for now, I might just focus on getting Logard more raptors – mounts and pets. After all, he is the Raptor King. That comes from when he was rolled waaaaaaayyyyyyy back in the day. So far back, Livejournal was a hopping place and he was in a guild called Spontaneous Vagabonds, which was a guild created from the wow-ladies LJ group. If memory serves, I was the only male player and character in the guild. I think they dubbed me the man-slave or man-whore, I don’t exactly remember. I know we shared a lot of laughs about it. But now look how far he’s come, the only active member of the roster for over a decade.

Magmalynn – Armed And Dangerous

One of my newest Hunters, and my Dark Iron Dwarf, is Magmalynn. She was the reason I was debating getting the Red Flame Burner back in June. And I did. But that was just the beginning as I’ve been waiting for the Hateforged Blazecycle to hit the Trading Post. And yesterday it did. I wasted no time today collecting my Trading Tenders for the month, which I’m starting to have a decent amount of…particularly as the Cycle and the Prowler’s Snowy Shoulder Cape were the only items I purchased this month.

Gun in hand, mount at the ready. Now it was time to look the part completely.

Legendary To The Power Of Four

For the past while I have been working on getting Fangs of the Father and Val’anyr. I wasn’t sure which one I would complete first to give me three legendary weapons. One thing is for sure, I didn’t expect it to be neither one.

I’ve started running Sunwell Plateau with regularity, over several characters, as I try to hunt down recipes those characters don’t have. The last thing I expected was for the bow to drop, and on my Hunter no less.

Yeah, it looks gooooood.

It Pays To Undermine

Way back in the day there was a website called the Undermine Exchange, where you could get live Auction House information. Obviously as an Auction Goblin I was quite familiar with it, but unfortunately it would fall by the wayside. In it’s place we have something similar called the Undermine Currency.

It doesn’t have the bells and whistles that its predecessor did, but it does allow you to look up any item and get a live report across all the Auction Houses. And every once in a while a search yields a great find.

Needless to say I did what I am wont to due in these instances, and that was roll a Vulpera real quick. If you aren’t familiar, Vulpera spawn right in Orgrimmar so it’s nothing to get to the Warbank and Auction House quickly. And one of my main servers has a higher demand price that’s being met. So once again, it always pays to keep your eyes open. Literally.

A One-In-Two-Million Run

I finally swung back into Icecrown Citadel and managed to get the 25-man Glory of the Icecrown Raider this week. So I was able to add the Icebound Frostbrood Vanquisher to the mount stable. However, the run was memorable for two completely different reasons.

The odds of getting the Blue Lumberjack Shirt is 0.1%, even it’s the second one I’ve gotten in as many months. The Rustic Workman’s Shirt is 0.05%. I would be happy to get either one of these, but to have both drop in the same run? Well, the odds are – as you probably guessed – one in two million.

I was pretty giddy, to say the least. The Lumberjack is Auction House bound. The Rustic Shirt I’m not so sure of. I don’t currently have the recipe on my tailor. I’d also have to sell a lot of them to offset the return the recipe could bring in. Either way, you’ll have to excuse me as I’m off to buy a lottery ticket.

In The Heats of Summer

As expected, summer has already started out to be a busy time of year. Because of that, there hasn’t been a whole lot of excitement going on. I farmed some fish at the Darkmoon Faire again this week, but other than that there hasn’t been anything specific on my docket – aside from continued pursuit of the legendaries.

As you can see, I’m at roughly the same point with each of them. I’m at 211/333 Shadowy Gems, needed to continue the Fangs of the Father quest chain, and I’ve also got 17/30 shards of Val’anyr (separate toons). I’m making sure to run Ulduar and Deathwing each week, but beyond that it depends on my mood or time to drop into Azeroth, which isn’t a lot right now. I did manage to get the few items I wanted from the Trading Post pretty much immediately…

So they’re purchased and I have a nice amount of carry over tenders. It also didn’t take long to get the Firework Rocket reward for the month, even though I’m hard pressed to think of anyone I would use it on. But I’m now close to the 150 mount reward (yes, I know that was eons ago for you), so I might push toward that with my free time.

I had taken Siori down to the Darkmoon Faire to do the Profession Quests and such, including taking a ride on the rollercoaster for the additional XP buff when she hit level 54 and I was presented with the quest to begin the path to obtaining the Night Elf Heritage Armor set. So, off I went, and a short time later I was done. It’s not often I use a complete set when I do a transmog, but with her new title I had to put the outfit on her. I then decided to go with a dual-wield Dissector daggers as the blade has a certain elegance to it that I think fits well.
